THE CHARGER PUNK

my dad and my younger brother were christmas shopping the other day at a local mall when a 69 charger r/t passed them done up in the DMCL paint scheme, they phoned me as soon as they saw it and told me it had dents in the quarter panels as well as the damage to the drivers side front exactly as it was in the movie, my dad also reported it sounded like shit but definitely was a bb ,  as i remember the base 69 car hammered into the train and 3 years ago so that leaves the 69 R/T anonymous, is there any chance this car survived?-MATT

THE CHARGER PUNK

sadly no but it was stated as the 68 used in dmcl, i was in school at the time, when school gets back in ill check my file to see if i saved em-MATT

Ghoste

But... wouldn't you think that after all these years, if someone had the car and they knew enough about it's history to leave it in it's unrestored, as filmed condition, they would have enough sense to preserve it and tell the world and not just use it as a daily driver to the mall on Christmas Eve?

THE CHARGER PUNK

true, but i dont think anyone would replicate it to the point of taking a bat and slamming the quarter panel a few times with it-MATT

Ghoste

I don't know.  I think I'll remain a skeptic for now.  More likely it was a car already partly damaged and they decided to paint it up in that scheme.
Shouldn't be too hard to find again??  It'd be nice to know one way or the other.

"This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold..." -- Numbers 7:84 KJV

FastbackJon

Reading posts about the movie from IMDB, one guy says he owned the R/T charger from the movie but his wife totalled it in 1977. He claims it had a 383 in it even though it was badged as an R/T and had 440 on the stripe. Here's the link, maybe it will work...?

THE CHARGER PUNK

im located in North Vancouver,BC , i saw it in West Vancouver, Besides this car there is a replica here as well but it is an R/T SE with centerlines(incorrect), i think it would be cool to get a fiberglass hood and drivers fender and re-create the damage in fiberglass-MATT

FastbackJon, I just found this site and registered here. That was ME that you quoted and I wish I still had my Charger. If I only knew how valuable it would be today i would have never parted with it. I still see pictures of some clones but the stripe is always wrong. You have to see it to know the correct size of it.

And and all information about the stripe would be appreciated. After all the still frames and measurements and angles and watching the 440 move all around on the movie screen I would love to know the correct position.

I mean, not to be a jerk. but isn't that like one General Lee being the 100% correct one. As I watched the DMCL movie. I watched that stripe dance around a lot. So If you have the correct way it was on. I would like to know so I can adjust mine.
