HELP!!! how to tell which P/S pump?!?! federal or saginaw!?!?!? HELP

hey guys.... (again!! LOL)
i need a power steering pump cap....
there is a guys on e-bay with one he says is a federal type P/S pump....i have no idea what P/S pump i have?!?!? ::)
how can i tell which one it is?!?!? frederal or saginaw type?!?!? i'll post a pic of my motor & you can see the blue rag sticking out of the neck of the pump!!! hey... it works for now!! LOL

but now it looks from the pic in the ebay auction that it would be a saginaw cap?!?!?!?

That is the federal cap you're looking for.  ;) I have a saginaw pump on mine and the cap is plastic....doesn't look like that one at all.  :scope:

Ps. Just to make sure, have him e-mail you the diameter on the cap and measure the fill tube on yours....that should give you a difinative answer.

The "S" stands for "Stant", the manufacturer of the cap used on Federal-type P/S pumps.  No connection whatsoever to Saginaw, which can have a plastic cap IIRC.

The cap in the eBay auction would be correct for your pump hobobum...

Save yourself the time, cost, and grief of ebay, and just go to an auto parts store with a big "Help" section. The caps are readily available.

Federal I have is completelly different... no round, more like "triangular"
