Hey I just scored a 69 440 engine from intake to pan including exhaust manifolds, brackets and a extra set of 906 heads
all for $200. Just wanted to share my joy in a good find.  :icon_smile_big:

This engine is standard bore, flat tops with no reliefs, still has the factory insulation under the intake and steel shim gaskets!

Cool.

wish i could come up with a deal like that...last deal like that a guy had a "440 and 4 speed" he was going to sell me for 250...went to look and it was a 2bbl 400 w/ 727  ::)  oh well
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Got a VIN# on it? It might be somebody's original engine ;)

Good intentions, but.....

Did you see what happened the last time a member purchased a 440 and the same question came up?   ::)

It kinda got messy.   :rotz:

I have a complete 440 at the shop with the factory insulation as well - crappy looking thing but I'll snap a pic for you anyway

i don't know where the link is. a guy happened to have someone else's numbers matching motor but was planning to build the motor and didn't want to sell it to the person that owned the car the motor came from. i mean it was rightfully his motor, he didn't HAVE to reunite it or sell it to the guy... lots of people gave their opinions, of course some ugly. i don't think the guy did ever wind up getting the motor. but who knows.. to each his own

It wasnt messy at all....between the 2 parties.  Everyone who chimed in with their opinions of the situation made it messy.

Long and short, guy posted he bought a complete '69 HP 440 & posted the VIN # off the block...I had the car registered in my registry.  Contacted both parties individually to get permission from both parties to contact each other (turns out both were members of the site already & found out)
The outcome was the owner of the engine respectfully declined to sell the engine....owner of car understood and that was the end of it.
Again, there was no mess...

I am currently working a 69 Charger 500 HEMI engine reuniting......
Remember to support the registries

PS....more than likely, if the engine had the silencing pad under the intake it was a lo-po engine from a C body etc.....

No worries guys as this engine is not from a Charger as it is not a HP engine. Just a good standard bore 69 440.

I did not save the insulation so I have no pic to post of that. It was insulation surrounded
by a foil outer covering in rectangular shape...Rolling THunder is correct in that it was crappy
looking  :icon_smile_big:

That is exactly what I meant.  I should have been more clear.  I felt for the guy that bought the motor and posted his find on the site.
