Anyone got one yet? How much did you pay, did you end up killing someone in street fight for one?

No PS3, but it's bringin prices down on the 360, so maybe I can afford one! I did see stampedes on the news, fights breaking out :boxing_smiley: and people literally camping (tents and all) out at Best Buy 3 days before it's release.

Found an interesting comparison article between xbox 360 and ps3. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html

"There are three critical performance aspects of a console:
Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance.
The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell.
Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance
The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU.
Memory System Bandwidth
The memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times."

I recently picked up a 360 and am pleased with it. I talked with a few guys, super gamers, who work at best buy and circuit city. One guy has both consoles. He said overall he prefers the 360 and the console is more powerful. He was also mentioning that the PS3 is NOT a TRUE blue ray system, rather it plays blue ray using software, so not true in nature and doesnt give you the full performance. He also said that xbox now offers an HD dvd hardware player for 360. I think it was like 200 or 300... But that's just if you want that HD dvd stuff. So all in all I think that the PS3 is overhyped simply because its the new thing. Some people have brand loyalties and other preferences. I'll use whatever works well for the price. Have a PSP and I take that thing everywhere, mostly for the jpeg viewer, mp3 player, vid player, wireless internet.

Now just gotta get a copy of that new need for speed game with the mopars in it...
Cheers.

Interesting info there, fishy.  I was somewhat interested in the PS3 mainly because of the blu-ray capability.  Considering most other hi def DVD players are going for about $1000, I figured there was a catch...looks like there is.  I'm not too much of a gamer, so I can't really justify the price if it doesn't double as a bluray/hddvd player too.  I guess I'll just wait a few months when everything drops 50-80% in price....
