tell that to your wife :)

I'd rather tell it to yours again!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

sounds like you have already convinced yourself that this truck is worth somewhere in the 2k neighborhood.  Go back and reread your posts.  you sound like a lawyer arguing for the seller, desperately trying to convince yourself and all of us that this thing is worth more than it is.

go ahead and buy it....and there's only 2 types of Ford trucks from that era.  Those that have rusted, or those that will.  One of my favorite trucks, way better than any 80's dodge or chevy, but they had a knack disintegrating.

You've been told when asked what its worth. Stop telling us to shut up. Drop the thread already. Either go offer for what you have been told, or walk away w/out it. If you buy it for $2800.00. You're gonna get a lot of I told you so's after something breaks on it cause I'm sure we'll all hear about how or what happend knowing you. If you can't say something nice at all Silver, well, I'm sure a mod will tell you what to do.

I found you some web sites to get info.
www.f150online.com
www.ebay.com
Those should help you find out what a good price is for the truck you want to buy.
Your welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Any of those trucks from that era fall under the "those that are rusted and those that soon will. In this neck of the woods you dont see to many without the pressure treated beds on them. Its hard to say what this truck is worth with the description you have given. I have an 88 F150 that I bought back in 95. I did a full frame up resto in 2000 including a 97 box, brand new doors and hood. I personally love the body style of that era so thats why I kept it. To the right person that truck may be worth what he is asking. If all you are looking for is something to bomb around in the snow and haul firewood in than I would say around $1500 if the cab isnt falling off the frame.

Bandit72

in my town a guy had a truck almost exaclty like your describing with a home made front bumper (very well made, not a cheapo backyard job) rebuilt 351, new hubs, 80% tread on 31's...i don't think it had 4.10's though, only rust was above the rear wheels.....and he couldn't get 1200 for it, i think he had to settle on like 750 cause he needed the cash...
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

What you got against question marks anyhow?..  ::)
do you own a charger BTW?..
or did ya steal that pic?..

Silver R/T

Anyways guy is saying he'll list it at $3000. When I asked for pics and said that $2500 (price he offered it to me for) seems a bit too much for rust issues he described, (Has some rust in the cab corners like usual, and is rusted out above the left rear wheel between two body lines about 8 inches long. I have a new skin for the left box side as well)

he replied:

Not going to go with the hassle of pic's if people are just going to be tire kickers. Sounds like you want a new truck for $500. Just the running gear in the truck is worth $2500, I thought you were seroius so I was going to hook you up a little. Thanks anyway.

I think its confusing/suspicious when someone's trying to sell something worth quite a bit and for some reason doesn't want to take pictures for possible buyers.

thats the problem. its NOT worth quite abit. its a 500 dollar truck. and only for the running gear. Those trucks do not have a high resale value, they dont hold their value at all. with a truck like that you dont get any high dollar 4x4 parts. a running 351w here is worth about 200 bucks. if you can find a buyer. those trucks rarely had the good front or rear ends(dana 44 or dana 60), and they dont even have the high dollar tansfer cases(NP205 vs the chain drive 203)

take your 3grand and save it for a better truck. Honestly the GM trucks of that era hold their value better than the fords.

Probably because you have been giving him the same kind of crap you shovel here...only on the flip side, because you're trying to get a deal.
Give it up & go look for something else. Sometimes finding a good deal requires a little patience on your part.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Here's what you do. He lists it for $3000, but will offer it to you for $2500, but let's say you think it's worth $2000. Now take the $500 difference from the list price & the personal offer price, subtract that from the what you think it's worth price, to get to $1500. You know he's not going to agree with you on $1500, so you offer him $1100, but also offer to pay for his ad for the $3000 listing he was planning.

He'll think about that for about 4 seconds & decide you're an idiot, so he'll tell you to take a hike & that he'll sell the drive train for $2500 & scrap the truck. This is when you suprise him & say you'll take the truck shell & haul it off for free because you know where you can get a complete drive train for $500 & come out way ahead. Now he'll ask if your dick reaches your ass, (another way to say go f**k yourself) & go inside his house.

So you go home & call him back, but change your voice, & offer him $500 for the drive train. Then get a friend to call & change his voice in case he knows him from the bowling alley, & tell him to offer him $550 for the drive train. Now he knows he has to people with strange voices that want his drive train, but not the truck. This will confuse him. but he'll still think your $1100 offer really stupid.

This will make him say to himself there must be an over run of imbeciles in his neighborhood, & make him want to move. House hunting around the holidays is a pain in the ass, so if he wants to sell the truck & his house, he'll be desperate. Now he has to lower the price of the truck to what you want to pay, because he has to close on his house & doesn't want to keep paying the taxes.

You might get a deal on the house too, so ask for pics of it so you can post them here. Also, ask if he'll include the truck in the sale of the house.  :2thumbs:

Well because its a ford so I say a good deal would be $0. Fords aren't worth a dime.
