Hi

Sorry I haven't been around much. I have been distracted with old Dodge truck's lately. Any recommendations on a good RV type cam for a '76 440 truck engine. The engine was rebuilt to stock specs and will be going in a 3/4 ton club cab 4 x 4 with an automatic and 4.10 gears. I will be using factory truck manifolds and a '71 440 intake and either carter or eddy carb.

Thanks

How about a Mopar Performance purple cam,  .430/260 degree   hydraulic camshaft?    I have one, with lifters marked for which piston, ten hours on it, still looks new,     I think this is the one I have:

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

You wanting to race it  or work it and pull with it?   Call engle and talk to them.

Working and pulling with it only. I have used Engle before but to be honest I was looking for something more off the shelf for a budget build. I may pull the heads and install steel shim gaskets or possibly put on a set of 516 heads I have but that is about the extent of the mods.

The only thing I don't like with that cam is the 110LS. With my factory exhaust I was thinking at least 112LS or more would be better. Any other thoughts on this cam?

Thanks

I bought this cam originally for my charger, from a guy in Tacoma, and wasn't sure which purple cam it was.   So I asked on here, and someone found the exact part, the guy I bought it from said it was about like what they put in a performance car in old days, but then chryco said, nope, but that it would be perfect if I was going to pull a boat with my car, hehhe, anyways, that's why I mentioned it, it is almost new and has matching lifters in plastic bags with oil marked for which piston, guy said it had ten hours, I don't know,

Darn it, pulled the lifters out of plastic bag, and the oil blurred a couple piston #'s,   :'(,       How much is really good deal for this?  $30 dollars

I know this isn't about the camshaft but one thing you can do to help out in the power department is to get rid of the factory pick-up  exhaust manifolds, they are terribly restrictive, on my 74 Dodge half ton factory 440 pick-up the outlets measured a measlely 2 inches,  I put on a set of shorty Hedman hedders I believe the  part number was 78070 and they definately made a difference, they fit like they were made for the application, although I think they are only listed for B and E body cars. You have to run the mini starter and another benefit is you no longer burnout the middle of your valve cover gaskets.

Crower 267HDP in at 107 ICL is a good cam for that truck and gearing.
