I've decided to go with a A-833 4 spd. to install into my 74 Duster (318) It currently has a slant 6 with a 3 on the tree, but my bro in law (a high school auto shop teacher) wants to do it. My daughter would love to do a few burnouts on our very rural cul-de-sac.  What I need to know from a real knowledgable tech head out there is what exactly do I need to look for? I know there was 2 versions of this tranny? Also, is there a place where I could find all needed components? I hate to try to piece everything together from several sources if I dont have to. I guess there was 2 different bell housings? I am putting a good solid 318 from another 74 valiant into this Duster. What little know specifics do I need to look into (I guess a new floor pan hump will be needed) also overdrive vs not? ..Wheres the best place to find an old a-833? are the interior guts generally still avail? I found a couple on ebay, but they look to be iffy. Anyone real dialed in on these type of swaps?

Almost forgot, Im pretty up on Chargers (have a 68 rt) but the Duster a body world a little less. Whats the best place to find info on dusters especially, engine tranny combos, original options, etc. I know they are usually lumped into a bodies in general with valiants, darts and demons, but is there a place (website) or some good books anyone know of? I appreciate all help in getting this project going.

www.bigblockdart.com is another great place to look. I think they cover the swap you want to do in their tech section.

the tranny you need is the short A boidy one or the alum OD out of a 76-mid 80s Aspen / volare it will have a small block bel that will bolt on with flywheel ,clutck fork etc , you will need a set of A body pedals & a floor hump , the Volare could donate this as well

Thanks, I havent really looked close yet, is the pedal and clutch linkage pretty similar (using exisitng 3 on tree?) or is everything different?

tecmopar

The pedals and pedal rod are the same except that the /6 O.C. spring on your clutch pedal is softer. If I remember right, the z-bar is different from a /6 to a SB, good luck.

I agree the pedals work the Z bar will not
