i finished putting a new cam into a 318 that i have in a truck, but i noticed that after i had the sprocket on, the fuel pump eccentric wheel has a keyway slot into it, but both my old cam and the new one wouldnt allow a key to come out to it. when i took the key out of the old cam i turned it around cause i had to file a edge down but this shouldnt be it.
Any ideas?

as you tighten the bolt it should push the gear back on the key & the very front of the key should come through the eccentric

:iagree:  Just to be sure everythings together right, I would remove the bolt after I snugged it down and look to see if the key is engaging the slot in the eccentric properly.

i got it to go on, i thought it was supposed to thats why i asked. I found out the new sprocket was to wide in the back for the key to stick out.
