Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could identify this part. I know it is a brake part, maybe coming from the MS, but other than that I have no clue. Is it saveable? Is it anything that can't be bought repro or something for cheap?

That is the proportioning valve. It is just below the master cylinder. Thats about all I can tell you. I've never had one go bad and don't know where you can get one other than used. Should be ok unless you know of a problem with it.

Actually, I think that's the safety switch to operate your brake warning light.  I'm not sure, but it might be one of the parts you can still get new.

That is the distribution block for your brake system.  The electrical part is your brake warning sensor if you should lose your front or rear brakes, a drop in pressure would set off that switch and turn the red light on inside your car.  The distribution block can be rebuilt by certain brake rebuilders.

Are they not available any more?

resq302

I dont know if the switch is or not but to my knowledge I have not seen them being repro'd yet for mopars.  You might want to try Inlinetube.com or the other brake line companies to see if they are doing them or not.

Maybe that's what I was thinking.  I thought I had seen new ones advertised someplace and maybe it was in a catalog like that or Fine Lines.
Then again, maybe my brain is just fuzzy and pouring out bad info again.  :-\

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

thats' the right answer

Proportioning valve is a separated block that only is on rear drums line to let flow more pressure to front than rear.

on laters models, prop valve is integrated on dist block assembly ( one piece )

Thanks for the input guys. Silver, the car was drums all around.

If I do a disc conversion for the front, can I just use an aftermarket prop. valve and ditch this one?

Silver R/T

If this one doesnt work, yes you can get aftermarket one. You'll have to get right one though that will work with front discs, rear drum setup

I have four wheel drums, if I need that part, and you don't, well . . .  maybe save it and sell it in online swap meet section,

Brakes are one area of any car that I don't mind anyone doing a major upgrade. (I say this knowing we have some purists here).  4 wheel drums suck. Especially if you have a jelly jar for a master. Upgrading to a later model disc/drum combo with a prop. valve is easy and cheap. Many donor cars are available cheeeeeeap to do this upgrade. Bone yards are full of 5th Aves. and volare's and such.  So now you know what my vote is.

If it doesn't start, you will be just fine.
