Hello everyone.  A while back I posted a question to the forum about tire and wheel sizes that would fit my 1969 Charger R/T.  I had converted the front brakes from drum to disk and the conversion required that I replace the 14 inch wheels with 15 inch wheels to clear the brake calipers.  I got lots of good responses that helped me decide what tires and wheels to go with.  Much thanks to everyone who responded to my post.  I'm including 3 pics of the car with this post, I hope they show up.

Here's a little info about the car.  I purchased the car on January 30, 1973.  The engine and tranny are original but the engine was rebuilt and I added a Crower cam and Weiand manifold back in 1980.  Although the engine still runs very strong I'm planning on pulling the engine this winter and installing new internals, as well as adding Edelbrock heads.  The car is a 4 speed with a Dana 60 rear (3.54:1 ratio).  The car needs some body work though.  If any of you know of any resto-shops in central Maryland please let me know.

Thanks for your help,

Great looking Charger!
How many re-paints has it had through the years? That's great that you've had it so long. :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Very nice car. I don't know where you live in Maryland but I live in south central PA close to the Maryland border and I know of a very good body man and painter who did my 69 charger.

Yes, this is the origianl color combination.  When I did a partial restore back in 1990 I had the car repainted the original color and had a new black vinyl top installed.

The car has actually been sitting in my garage undriven for the past 3 years.   One of the front wheel bearings failed and seized to the spindle on the way home from a MOPAR show at Mason/Dixon dragway back in 2003.  I had difficulty finding a replacement spindle and brake drum and started questioning how much I really cared for the car anymore so I let it sit.  My youngest son and I went to Chryslers at Carlisle this past summer and he started pestering me about getting the Charger back on the road.  So we converted the drum brakes to disk brakes and put on the new wheels and tires.  I've been enjoying the car again ever since.  I had forgotten how good it feels to have people gawk at the car as I drive it down the road.  The torque of a 440 magnum helps the enjoyment factor too  :-)    I think that Chargers are more popular now than they were back in the'60's and 70's.

Hey Skibuff-------I was really floored when I opened the pictures of your car.  It is exactly the plan I have for my 69.  I am making a RT clone with 440 4speed and your color combination is what I plan to use (my car came from the factory as a Y3 Creme exterior color).  Would I be correct in saying that your car is painted Y2 Sunfire Yellow?  And your wheels look to be Torque Thrust 2's.  What size are the wheels front and back?  (I had also thought of using the Torque Thrusts on mine)  Is the car equipped with a 4-speed?  And do you know what rear end and rear ratio you have?  I would think a 8-3/4 with 3.23 gears if it's a automatic.  Or do you have a DANA 60 rear axle?  My interest with the rear end concerns driveability on the interstate.  At 70 mph, what rpm is your engine turning?  How about more pics of the engine compartment and interior.  I need them for guidance on my resto project.  Thanks for sharing and good luck with your car.

Hi Chatt69chgr,

Yes, my car is a 4 speed with the Dana 60 rear.  The rear gear ratio is 3.54:1.  The engine rpm at 70 mph in 4th gear is 3500 rpm.  You are correct about the wheels, they are Torque Thrust 2's.  The front tire size is P245/60R15.  You are also correct aoout the color, it is Y2 yellow.
