I have to comment about the car. They only put on half quarters, you can tell looking into the trunk area photo where it's undercoated. Second, what a waste. Nice color combo, thats about it.

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Dave, It's actually G0G. The seller posted the VIN.

Not feeling that vinyl top on a Daytona or 'Clona.

That looks like it's still got it's original trunk pan too. Or at least someone did a damned good job cleaning up the center weld...a much better job than they did on the 1/4 patches. ::)

One thing I don't get is why would someone do all that work on the car...and not replace the $4.99 dome light lens? :ahum:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

69charger2002

couple things i noticed. the DAYTONA lettering is too high up, the 2 taillights are different and there is no bezels around the lights.. the front door panels are charcoal and the rears look homemade. i'm just being picky, i like the car., just noticed some things is all

Seller says car originally came with 318 and a 4 speed.....I did not think they made any.

Bryan  (but what do I know)   ???

BigBlockSam

if you could get it for about $20000 , it would be a great beginning to a keep ass replica .

I guess I'm still stuck on the "clone" terminology.  I saw the title of this thread and thought it was going to be about somebody driving their wing car really fast.  Oh well. :-\

jaak

I dig the velcro headlamp covers   ::)
But still a pretty cool clone, I'm not gonna dog-it, nicer than my charger right now

THE CHARGER PUNK

thats the kinda color combo white on orange i would like on a daytona with or w/o a vinyl top-MATT

69_500

A 318 4 speed? Was that combo even available? I thought you could get the 318 in a 3 speed manual but not a 4 speed am I wrong?

Also if it was a 4 speed car, why change it to an automatic now?

Ghoste

I believe you are correct Danny, no four speed 318's for that era.

sunroofsuperbird

Wow this car is only about 20 30 miles from me? Have never seen it before.

THE CHARGER PUNK

what kinda shifter did a 3-spd manual come with? anyone got any pics? i saw 1 years ago it looked like a straight shifter with black ball i think it was in an e-body tho-MATT

69Charger500

4 Speeds were optional with E-Body 318s, but not B-Body 318s (at least not 68-70 B-Body)...

Ghoste

Wow, that's kind of interesting.  I never knew you could get them in an E-body.

hemigeno

Not that this has anything really to do with Aero cars, and I apologize for hijacking the thread further than it already has been, but...

According to the "Little White Books" (which aren't infallible by any stretch of the imagination) 4-speed transmissions were offered with 318cid engines in the following applications/years:

1963  B-body  P/N 2400872  (T-10 transmission, Polysphere 318)
1967-68  A-Body  P/N 2892042
1969  A-Body  P/N 3410608
1970  A-Body  P/N 3410681 (318 export only)
1970  E-Body  P/N 3410697
1971  E-Body  P/N 3410760
1971-4  A-Body  P/N 3410759
1973  B & E Body  P/N 3410763

That chart indicates the LA318 was only mated to a B-body 4-speed in 1973.  That info is still not the last word, but it at least agrees with what everyone is saying.  Oh - and the 3-speed could be floor-shifted from 1970 on, according to the same reference material (Sales Code D13 on the Fender Tag)

:Twocents:

69_500

But no 3 speed floor shifters for 318's in 69? Was it only the 3 speed on the column then?

I'm confused.

Yes...in 66 the base engine-trans combination was the 318 with the 3spd manual trans shifter on the column, 67 also. There was (still is) a 68 Charger up here that has the slant 6 with the 3spd manual shifter on the column. All 3 speed manual shifters came on column...none on floor...at least up to 1970..not sure about after that.

Bryan  :drive:

69_500

I once looked at a 1970 Charger that was a 225 /6 car that was a 3 on the column, that was a FM3 car. Factory FM3 car with tan interior.

Lifsgrt

Hey guys, I was driving near this car's home a few weeks ago and stopped to check it out.  The nose is held on by steel strapping that has been bent to make mounts.   There is nothing resembling Z-brackets holding the nose in place.  There is no valance between the nose and the radiator support, just a big open space.  It looks a fair amount worse in person than in the pictures.  The owner was bummed it topped out at about $30000.

THE CHARGER PUNK

69_500

Possibly, but I can't say for certain. It was in Washington state in 1998.

Lifsgrt

Check out this technique for mounting the nose...
