i got the cam replaced and the fuel pump eccentric roller problem fixed, but i got the oil pump gear off so the rotor point to the opposite side now(i could move the wires on the cap) and was wondering if i can just pull the whole shaft/gear up to line up the slot the correct way? the motor is a 77 318 by the way.

pulling the distributor out  and rotating it 180 degrees  would be the proper way to fix that.

i tried doing just that, but it then points towards the firewall(driverside) and towards the front of the motor on the passenger side the opposite way. I know the cam and cranks are both lined up together and it is at TDC right now.

rotate the pump drive to the position you want the rotor to point with the engine still at TDC  & wire #1 there

yep...oil pump shaft needs to be re-stabbed in order to achieve where the rotor points
