This car is being debated on the Chevelle site if it is a 69 or a 70.  All things I can see are pointing to that it's a 70 with a 69 front clip.  i decoded the VIN using the decoder from stockmopar.com and it says the same thing.  Not sure if someone on this sight owns it or not.  One of the guys on the Chevelle site is interested in buying it.

70, if the door scoops and tail light bezel chrome is correct.  69 front end.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

it's what I would do to a 70!  I love those door scoops.  How douche would it be to put a set on my 68?  I have always thought those were so cool, and you don't really notice the scallops in the door anyway without them..

Vin tag tells all. Its a '70. Int. door panels are '69 seats are '70. Radio is a '70 style also, round knobs vs. roller. I wonder what became of the front clip and '70 door panels?

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Dash is definitely a '70 - no flasher switch.  Steering column is a '70 also (steering wheel center is '70 style), and the radiator core support is a '70 as well (has the provisions for the different grille support).

Someone went to a lot of trouble to do that - I wonder if they plumbed in the vacuum for the headlight actuators, or if the retro-fitted the electric motors?

To make a 70 RT to a 69 hotrod is sad, even thou it looks nice...

Looks like whoever put that bumblebee stripe on picked a bad day to quit sniffin' glue.  :o :scared: :scared: :o
Probably the same guy that grafted that '69 nose on.  :rotz:

By the time one located a '70 front clip and then had to respray the body, and trunk and located the proper interior pieces...well it'd be easier to start with a complete '70. If you want a '69 that bad, buy one.

Maybe the thing was front ended and he had access to a toasted '69? Whatever  - Frankenchargers are really odd.

Blasphemy!!!

For once we agree.   ;D

This car was shopped on ebay a while back. If it was a true '69, it probably would have sold by now, and if it had the correct front for a '70, it probably would have sold by now. The guy has a complete cluster-f.

Spike

Heck, I was thinking it needs 68 tailights myself  :nutkick:

THE CHARGER PUNK

it also has a nascar style vintage 63-5 hurst shifter from those years of mopars

Is that stripe on backwards?  Guess it was hard with the '70 sidelight.  Since we're pointing out '69 or '70 only pieces, did anyone notice the '70 gas tank?

Yep, cause 1970 front ends are too hard to find so ya might as well use what ya find!  :icon_smile_big:
But i like the car anyways  :yesnod:

Hi, I'm the 'Chevelle guy' looking at this car. I'm not familiar with Mopars, but want to learn.

The dealer said the previous owner didn't like 70 grilles, so he installed a 69 grille. # on core support matches VIN. Everyone's saying, 'front clip'. Is it the entire front end that's different, or just the grille?
The paint is so-so, body looks great as well as the drivetrain. I'm 50/50 on this car. Looks great but.....

Let me ask a question. Since this car is jacked up already, what's it really worth? Thanks.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Hood, fenders, bumper, grill all supports ect is unique to 69...its NOT just a grill change.
Look for either a 69 or 70......or get this car if its cool with you....just a lot of mis matched parts on that one.

Welcome to the site

The front was most likely off a Hemi car.  :P

JimmyP, welcome to the Board.  What do ya' got Chevelle guy?  Your first Mope?

I think if the car was a '69 with a '70 front it would be easier to move and wanted by someone.  Enthusiasts need that combination to build Daytona wing cars clones.  They use the '70 front fenders for the '69 Daytonas.

Besides, by going this route you don't have to carry cheese around in a cooler.   :slap:

with what ya learn here you should be able to talk him down a few grand...  :icon_smile_wink:

well, you could try to extrapolate some numbers by recent ebay sales:

Needs body work, but numbers match car:  $26,600

Non numbers match, needs assembly and small stuff:  $28,200

In my opinion, that second one would have cost you the same as this yellow one is asking by the time you put it back together and buy some of the missing pieces, but you would end up with a much more correct car when done.

for 32k, that 70 you are looking at is a bit much for my taste, even in today's market.   If it was me, considering the bastardized sheetmetal, I would not pay more than 25K for that car.  and that's only because it's a 4 speed with a dana.  If it was an auto 8 3/4 car, no more than 20k.  It would probably cost you at least 10 grand to fix the paint and make back into a real 70 if you wanted.

5th digit in Vin is a 0 - that would be a 70
