Just thought I would share with you guys my latest project.  It is an original 1970 Challenger RT/SE, with a 383, auto w/ console, and an 8 3/4 rear end.  78,000 original miles.  No rust, but needs a restoration.

All there (mostly), but need help locating some parts for it.  If you have these items let me know.

Intake manifold:  2951666

Left exhaust manifold: 2951865

Heat stove for left HP exhaust manifold (no part number)

Right exhaust manifold: 2899879

The correct oil pan. It is referred to a "402" pan with pick up and windage tray.

Need correct Carborator 4732S for 383 auto '70 Challenger with A/C
Build date on car is Sept '69 so need earlier than this date
Correct carb # s/b 4732S
Carter AVS

I also need radiator part number 2998961 for my '70 Challenger, 383, with A/C

Need grill for '70 Challenger RT

Any original OEM A/C equipment

This will be a great project for me as I have always wanted an original RT/SE before, and now have one
I am going to try to get it done before the new Challengers come out.

He (seller) wanted 25k and I offered him 19k and he accepted that offer.  So, I payed 19k for it.  I will drop a few more in it and redo the paint. We know that won't be cheap.  It will be restored back to stock, unlike the '68 Charger I am finishing up on.  I think I got a good deal, but having been in the "hobby" for about 25 years I still feel like I paid more than I wanted to.   ::)  All in all I will be OK esp. when the all new Challenger comes out late next year.  My predicition is that the values wil increse in the originals.  I guess that does not matter since I have always wanted a true RT/SE.  Just a bonus  :icon_smile_big:

Thanks.  I have been putting out "wanted" adds for a while and this seller saw my add on Craigslist.  Be paitent and try placing free wanted adds on say Challenger sites for example.  Good luck.

I like the FY1 (Yellow) on Black myself.  I have not been this excited about a project in a while.

Nice Car, Does it have #'s matching original motor? Looks like trunk has been replaced & engine compartment resprayed at one time. Has anything else been replaced besides trunk like the Extension, frame rails, 1/4's? LEON.

Not the original correct numbers engine but I located a correct date coded, correct cast number block with a standard bore.  Original trunk. Sub frame rails are original and solid. Other items needed noted above reflect what is not correct (stock) for the car.  The trunk lid was also replaced.

Yellow on black, r/t se, I bet that is really rare.   Challengers are cool.    :yesnod:

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Brock,

It has PS, front disk, A/C, RT longitude black stripe, salt and pepper seats (very cool), but I have to get the buildsheet put back together to see it all.  It is a puzzle right now in pieces.

Here is some recent progress pics.  The car is now stripped and is getting blasted to remove all the paint so I can see what will be needed as far as metal work goes.  I can tell already it will need a partial drivers side pan, inner fender well, both rear 1/4's, a new fender, tail panel, and that's what I am aware of.  It is reminding me of my '68 Charger that needed more metal work than I thought it would.

I will share some more pics after the blasting phase.  Won't be pretty though, but it will be progress which is a good thing.

Supercharged Riot

In response to the value of an old Challenger going up/down given that the new one is set to come out within the next year (or 2). It's debatable

2 possibiliities:

I figured the value could go up because of it's increasing popularity. However...

I figured the value could go DOWN only because people have a better chance of owning a newer one and give up looking for an older one.

Which conclusion is correct? well....I dont know. THe only thing I can say is look at the mustangs.

My guess is that the price of old Challengers (in general) will level off (with an acception of Hemi's & other rare findings) where it's at right now.

Very nice. You paid a reasonable price for it.
