Wow.  I'm gonna take a stab at this one cause it sounds familiar. 

I'm thinking maybe the 2005 remake of one of the greatest movies of all time(1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)

I just stumbled on the movie after googling barrator and buccaneer. It came up with a story about Bully Hayes. Then I looked that up on Wikipedia. Then I found there was a movie made based on his life. That was a really good challenge.  :2thumbs:
