I am definately no expert but to me it might be worth getting a new radiator, and then still using the transmission cooler you have.  My 70 383 used to run at about 195-210 degrees in the oklahoma summertime temps up to 110 outside max.  I unfortunately hit a deer and had to get a new radiator and decided to add a 12 x 7.5 x 0.75 transmission cooler and on cold days run right at about 175, or on hot days 190.  To me its worth the extra security, but in your case I would tend to say that you might try to overcompensate and find a different route than just using an external tranmission cooler for the car.

The B&M stacked plate coolers are very good. I have run this type of cooler as a stand alone unit in several cars and had zero problems.  :icon_smile_big:

thanks ron,i have a new cooler now....

is it smart to place the cooler under the car close by the transmission?

one new cooler is   7 1/2"x12"x3/4"  and the 2e one is 5"x10"x2 "

i would use the both.

I prefer to mount them up front in the grill area....that way they get maximum airflow/cooling. The fan will also pull air through the cooler and rad which helps alot when the car is sitting in traffic ot stationary.
