Apparently the guy didn't show you that the truck does tricks too! :o

It was here last February for the local Auto Rama. Pretty amazing how much time & effort was put into that truck. :yesnod:
I probably spent 20 minutes walking circles around that truck, taking in all the unbelievable attention to airbrushed detail.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I don't know...I have a bit of a problem with that....

Hear me out.

I have found that people who make those kinds of displays (and I see a lot of 'em) do it because they want people to tell them how great they are for remembering and NOT because they actually want to pay tribute to the 9-11 heroes.  I find it a little...well...upsetting that they are using the memories of the 9-11 heroes to puff up their own egos.

I find it even more upsetting that (mostly) well-meaning people play into that.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

It's out of line and unfair for you to say they are pumping up their egos and indirectly implying that they don't care about 09/11.  Without people like this, we would not have the Vietnam Memorial, the stature of the flag raising at Iwo Jima, The USS Arizone Memorial, etc..  it's a tangible viewable reminder of trajedies that shaped our history.  It's not right for you to dismiss them like that.

:iagree:
Besides, who's to say that the owner of this truck is one of those people who did it soely for the back-slaps? This guy just might be the most patriotic guy any of us have ever met. :shruggy:

It would be great if instead of that horrible country tribute song, that his display played "America : F**k Yeah!" from Team America: World Police on constant repeat.  :icon_smile_cool:

Okay...let me ask you a question?

How much do you think he paid for that escalade?  50-60 thousand bucks?

How much do you think he paid for the mods?  Another 30-40 grand?

So lets just say (for the sake of argument) that he paid 80-100,000 buck for that...thing.

How much do you think he gave to any of the 9-11 charities?

How about any of the veteran's memorial funds?

War memorial funds?

First off, the only thing Escalade about that thing is the grille. Chances are, the rest of the body was just purchased in boxes from the dealer, since there's practically nothing stock GM on it.

Secondly, I have no idea how much he's given to charities (coincidentally, neither do you), but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt before I trash his project. If it turns out that he's in fact someone who's only done it for the notoriety, then I'll gladly be one of the first in line to stomp his face into the mud. :icon_smile_evil:

Let me add that you are right in the fact that some people are only in it for themselves (there's always someone in every bunch ::) ) & it's jerks like that who ruin it for the rest of the people who would only be doing it for patriotic pride.

Oh, I'm not trashing his project at all...that took a lot of work and dedication.  I'm just suspicious of his reason for doing it.

Whatever the reason and motivation is for him to do something like that ....so be it, it does memorialize 9/11 and that's what really counts. If he has any hidden agenda/reason for doing it, that's his prerogative and conscious. At least he was thinking about it one way or another. We seem to always dig in to much to find out the "real" reasons for things when we should just take things at face value.
