What would it cost to buy a Daytona clone?

I would really like to have a wing car and have come to the unfortunate reality that I will never be able to afford one.  Big block sam, Geno, or any wing car gurus, What would it cost to build a clone, and what is the going market price of a clone? I'd venture to say that you could buy a clone for around the $40K range. It all depends on how accurate of a clone you want. Some other clones are asking $80K, but not all of them are very nicely done.

Someone I know built a Daytona clone for $16,000, including the price of the 70 Charger, which was $3500. Of course, he did most of the work himself. If you can't do your own work, then just buy one for $25,000-$40,000.

Thanks, I may try to build one, if I could get a clone in the 20k range I would rather go that way.  I have way to many projects now.

I dont know.  If you think about the work you have to do, meaning finding a good car, the parts, the paint, mechanical etc.  I would seriously consider buying one..... Of course I know you have a lot of people and would do much of the work yourself it maybe something to still consider purchasing one, even if it is more than you want to spend......

I agree Tom,  I always tell people buy a car as done as you can get it, it will save you money in the long run.  I just don't know?

I thought the 500's cloned into Daytonas were going for a lot more than the figures quoted here??

I'm assuming a 500 would be the most logical start-from car...

No, a 500 is as valuable as a Daytona in my opinion, I would be looking for a clone from a 69 or 70, with or with out the window plug.  I remember seeing some very poor jobs going for 15-25 k  and seeing some real nice jobs for as much as 50-60k.
