Ok So after 2 years of searching for a charger I found my charger.  It's a 1970 charger with a 318.  It needs a grille and a fron valance.  I just found out that no one makes a aftermarket front valance for a 70.. So, I really love the look of a 69.  Can I swap the fenders and hood off of a 69 while keeping my rad support, or should I give up
??????

Sell the car and buy a '69. You will be much better off in the long run.

But before you sell, don't forget to register. www.1970chargerregistry.com  :yesnod:

You'd be better off finding just a grille & valence & leave it a '70.
It's not just the fenders & hood. You'd also need a '69 grille, bumper, valence, & parking lights. Then the vacuum setup & lines for the headlight doors ('70 was electric). Then a different dash cluster with the '69 light switch & vacuum tee. And on, and on, and on... etc.

Leave it alone, trust me! '70's are way cool!

Unless you have the 69 parts on hand.  You will spend A LOT OF MONEY for 69 parts.  Most fenders in reasonable shape have gone from $500 (a steal) to upwards of $1200  That is for a pair just each fender.  Then the Grille and the grille and the headlights etc......the grille mounting it completely different too.

Leave it a 70 sell it and buy a 69 as the others have stated.

BTW I have both a 70 and a 69.

The inner fenders also have different mounting points for their respective fenders.  '70 fenders fit on '69 inner fenders (a la Daytona), but I'm not sure that the reverse will work.

If you can't afford a decent '69 to begin with, you really can't afford to buy a decent '70 and convert it to a '69.

i thought DAYTONA and SUPERBIRD used '70 CORONET fenders...

thanks alot for the advice.  I already knew the answer I just needed to hear it from the experts.  I have a decent 70 and with alot of work I will make it a great 70!!!!

Superbird, yes.  Daytona, no.

The Daytona uses what amounts to a '70 Charger fender (and hood), although the lower front corner of the fender has to be modified for the valance to fit - and there is also no marker light opening.  There are a few other slight differences, but those mostly have to do with the fact that the Daytonas were being built with pre-model-year-production parts.

Creative Industries did not change out the inner fenders when they did the Daytona conversions, so the inner fenders on a Daytona are still 1969 parts, but the outer fenders are '70 style and have a different mounting point.  I honestly don't know if '69 outer fenders would bolt up to a '70 inner fender even though the reverse is possible.  I'm sure someone has done it, but I really don't think it's a bolt-on deal.

BTW, good luck with the project, 70charger_boy!
