Speaking of 3rd gen door panels...

I've got some upper door panels on my '72 that I got pretty cheap off ebay (<$100 for both!) and they're actually in MOSTLY really good condition.  However, they obviously aren't from a '72 charger... at least, not one like mine.  They include a 'Brougham' emblem... which I'm ok with... but the point being, it obviously came off of a 'Brougham' (which I think is a sub-model of charger that occured late in the 3rd gen years, like 73 or 74??  not sure at all on that).
ANYWAY
the point is, there is a wide rectangular 'badge' of some sort that should be on these.  Mine, of course, are missing.  I've seen similar door panels on ebay since then, but they've all been missing the badge too.  I even asked a couple sellers and they seemed to not really know about it either.

sooo... does anyone know anything about these 'badges'?  Maybe they're more of a cosmetic 'pull' handle... Where they're mounted there is NO way they'd be able to withstand people pulling the door closed, so I doubt it, but the layout kinda looks like it

Anyway, anyone know anything about these?  Are they reprod for relatively inexpensive?  I suppose I could make a badge of some sort as a last resort, but if the 'right' one is out there easy for me to get, I'm on it! :)

they are definitelly 72... Brougham package was available since 72. yes you still needs to find the puller handles and all its stuff ( brackets and covers )

73/74 panels don't fit on your 72 since door is around 1 and a half inch lower on back, so don't worry, you have the right 72 panels, only need now find the macthing rear ones ( if you didn't get the complete set on same deal ) with same wide woodgrain insert.

Pullers are the same practically on ALL mopars, so you can find donors ones on any junkyard.

Here is a shot of door panels with puller handles

I'm not sure but 71s use that same wide woodgrain insert so maybe 71 rear upper will match with your new Brougham 72 front uppers. However I don't know if vinyil pattern and design is the same on 71 and 72.

If you are interested on get complete the brougham package here is the deal:

The Brougham package was the luxury package on the Charger SE from 1972 to 1974. It included:
-Cloth & vinyl seat with fold down center armrest, or vinyl bucket seats with plush carpet, or cloth & vinyl bucket seats with plush carpet.
-Electric clock
-Deluxe steering wheel with partial horn ring
-Simulated wood-grained trim and soft trim
-Padded door trim panels
-Added sound insulation

P.S: is not only SE package... Mine is Hardtop and got the brougham package from a Canadian Hardtop donor, where rears between 73/74 SEs and hardtops are not the same

strange...  For some reason I've just heard pretty much nothing about them.  Oh well! :)

Thanks for the pic, that helps MUCH - I'll start feeling around for some pullers.  Hm... I'm guessing, they do attach to the door itself, not just the panel-  right?

Nacho-RT74

Every door uses 4 brackets, 2 attached on door frame, down the panel and 2 more attached on panels... every one with its own phillips screw.

The door frame has 2 square cut outs where every bracket has somekind of "nail" to be inserted and then also a screw to keep it on place.

Is not rare that maybe this square cut out is not completelly opened ( but they are there and are visible ) on not brougham packaged cars and maybe you need to drill it. Is just a piece of the door frame what is below the exterior inner frame/skin and overlaps from the interior the cut out.

After that you install the interior panel, then the door pull handle ends are bolted with the second bracket over with a similiar phillips screw. This second bracket is to fit the chrome cover with woodgrain insert, what is pressure fit.

These "pull handles" seems hard to find  :icon_smile_angry:

I keep on looking on eBay.. but nothing..

chargercalvin

i have a 72se and mine has the handles but not the pull chord thing check year one or check local junkyards, mabey earlier and later mopars had simular handles, or you could make one if you are very skilled.
