I know there was a thread on this but after doing a search I cant find it. Might have been on the old sight. It mentioned some of the better name brand ones out there. Anyways if somone can find the thread or has some input on ones that there happy with that would be great. I bought another project and things are getting a little tight.

Shakey should be all over this one.  he's the multiple thread police :police: :coolgleamA:

I saw a beacon in the sky - someone lookin' for some help?   :scope:

I have a garage, actually my car is parked in the shop out at my In-Law's farm, so if there has been a thread on portable garages, I never really paid much attention.

I do recall a few threads about car covers and I recall Rene posted a photo of his car pod.

Maybe these will help.

As far as portable garages go, maybe these folks have what you need.

I used to have a temp garage by these people http://www.shelterlogic.com/. They are solid and work very well for around 500-600.00.

I used to own one of those quanset hut (rounded top) 12x20 garages.  It was fairly easy to set up, did it by myself in less than a half day.  Stretching the canvas over it would have been easier with an extra set of hands, but got it all done without assistance.  It was good enough to keep the car out of heavy southern rains, free of bird droppings etc, but the problem i experienced was mice and rats that decided that the dash and interior of the car was a real fine dry place to sleep, have kids, and shit in the floors and trunk.

The heavy vinyl material lasted about 10 years before it finally split from sun/dry rot at the top.  I paid for the front and rear covers as well, which kept birds out.  It was a decent way to store a car, but you really didn't have the room to work on it inside (although you could always pick up the structure and move it back without starting the car) plus you couldn't use a jack or stand safely on the grass/dirt. (grass typically dies under the car in less than a season) If you have it on a concrete slab however, it would probably be a nice storage tent.

Good luck with it.

my friend has a double wide one.   makes an excellent storage spot for his skid steer, snow blower, etc..  theres also an old Marmon (20's car) and what's left of his high school 65 mustang convertible.  it's been up for a long time and if you don't have the bucks for a garage......

If you want a sort of compromise, you could pour a slab down for it.  it makes it much more like a garage.  Just pour it in the right spot, then when the thing wears out, you have an instant basketball court, patio, or driveway extension.  something simple like this, you would have no problem forming yourself and for a maybe a few hundred in cement, you are all set.

Thanks for the feedback. Right now the car is just a bare rolling shell that im looking to keep out of the weather and maybe store some other stuff like a snowblower and some of the kids outdoor toys. I figured the 12x20 would be good for that now. Im hoping to have an addition on my garage next year. I was looking at the 12x20 shelter king units for around $399.

I did  my homework . it is from farmtek . the size is 48 x26 , 3 foot raftersand also has two 10 foot x 8 foot roll up doors . It cost me 6000 grand to my door back in July 05 . The township shot me down about adding on to my garage so I jammed  it in their ass with this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
