Okay I pulled the 340 out of my T/A and was going to put it away and put in a new crate 360. The 340 was getting tired and I just wanted to save it for value of car. I have noticed that Dodge was advertising a new 360 pre magnum shortblock for around $ 1400 with a 9.5 to 1 compression and a .509 lift cam. This was the way to go so I called Jeggs to order one. I was told they were on backorder. So I called some Dodge dealerships all around country who advertised these shortblocks. I was told that Dodge has not even started building these yet. The guy at Keisler dodge told me he has one on backorder since last February. He told me that trying to get new crate motors except for the magnum 360s was aqlmost impossible. Why did father Mopar do this to us. We have been good children and still he does not treat us right. So now I have a 78 360 block that I will send off to shop to start machinework. I will have to spend more money and alot more time now just to get her back on the street. What is your thoughts on the way we are are treated.

The point is that they have put out notice that they are selling these. I have just noticed this ad but I was told they have been on backorder since last February. I can't even find out where they have even shipped one out. I have called every major dealership and aftermarket supplier and they have no information on when if ever they will be purduced or shipped. Why do this to the public? I mean if they are thinking of doing this there is better ways to find out if there is a market for this part. I don't want to buy a Jasper shortblock and the wait of having one built is no problem but this just pisses me off. It's like the new Challenger just tease us until there is a public outcry for the product. If a store advertised a product and you went to go get it and was told " Well I'm not sure we are going to sell it" wouldn't you be upset too. Any suggestions on where to buy a decent shortblock like this for the same price? I don't think you are going to find one.

With the amount of horror stories over the build quality of the assemblies that are[/b] getting out to people, be glad they are impossible to get ahold of. Build it between you and your local machine shop and know[/b] what you got.

It sounds like "they will come and then we will build it".

I had not heard of any Problems with their motors. Maybe it best that they didn't have any to sell or ship. But I'm still ticked off on the deceptive advertisement that they put out. Maybe it's time to go with some 10.5 or 11.0 to one pistons and a big cam in a custom build. I don't drive it very often.

I work for a chrysler dealership and I just looked it up and if you just go into or call a dealership they won't know if it is on backorder or not until they actually order it.  When I looked it up it says it is a vender direct shipment, so it comes from wherever they build them.

Hope that helps.

When I spoke with the guy at Keisler dodge he was telling me that he has been offered over 500 dollars to give the guy the next crate hemi that he got in. He said that he couldn't do that as the guy on top of the list as been there for 6 months waiting. Now how would you like to put 12 thousand dollars down on a motor and still 6 months later have nothing. If you wouldn't mind that I have a whole warehouse full of Hemis that I will take your money on. Then the trip to South America would be worth it. It's almost as bad as a scam as what dodge is doing to the buyers of the crate hemis. As it was said in another thread mopar owners are thought of as being rich. To order a new crate hemi you would need to be. I wonder what 12 thousand would do in a money market account for six months. No wonder Chrysler can afford to spend so much money.

I will be saving the old motor and going thru it later. But I drive my car and want to be able to really lay into it when I want. So a decent 360 with heads and cam would be fun. Then when I want I can always put 340 back in to be original. I like to drive them not have some type of show queen only that I'm afraid to drive because I might hurt it.

Thats Odd,  :-\The long Hemi Wait,  ???While I was watching that Barry White (think thats the name?)build muscle car clones on cable TV he decided he did not want to resleeve his Keith Black Hemi, So what does he do? Makes a phone call & has a instant Crate Hemi there in a day or 2. I guess you got be be special like Foose & others & you'll get your car Media Blasted overnight & Jack Roush will fly out to your shop overnight with a Crate Motor as a gift. People see Foose restore a car in a week & wonder why it takes me months? I dont have 5-10 guys working 16-24 hours aday on a car. Thats why. :icon_smile_angry: LEON.

I'm guessing you'd get 3% . maybe 2 1/2% on your money market account. But if there's no money, then no interest...
