I don't know if anyone has ever tryed this, but I think this might be kinda kool. What was your first car? Got any pics? What ever happened to it? And if you got a good story, what the hell, toss it in!  :icon_smile_big:

TheGhost

68 Dart 270 4 door.  Slant 6, 3 speed auto on the column, bench seat car.  First car I owned entirely myself.

Sold it to a guy restoring a 67 GT ragtop, for a parts car.  I miss it.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Ok, heres mine. It is a 1970 Dodge Coronet 440 that I found when I was fifteen. It all started when I got my permit and I decided it was time to get my first car! My dad worked with a guy who collected MoPars and had a few "about twenty" projects laying around. So I had him find out if he had any 69 Super Bees/ coronets out there. Well sure enough he did have a Coronet, but it wasn't a 69. Now for some stupid reason I never really cared for 70s, but I figure what the hell.... It would be a fun time to check out the old girl. Then we decided that when my dad got off work we would go take a look. Before I could even get out the door my mom calls and tells my dad "There is no way in hell he is coming home with a car!"  ::) So once we got out there my old man goes up to the house and knocks on the door, that was the first time I saw her, sittin in the grass..."It was love at first sight!" We wander over to the rusty blue relic and look her over. I knew at that moment that I had to have her! So not two weeks later I got my first job and started saving. about a year of haggling with the guy and we came to an agreement. When I came out to get it the weeds where up o the tops of the doors, but I didn't care. Ever since then I beat the hell out of it and now she sits dormant while I get her a fresh 500 HP 440.  here are some pics of the very first time I saw her!

Well, my first car actually wasn't a car at all, it was a pickup.  A 1970 Ford F-100 long bed with baby moons.  It was black with a white and red interior and I loved it.

I actually bought it from my old man (who refused to "give" it to me) for $500.00.  I worked like a dog all summer cutting firewood for a contractor only to find out later that the contractor was crooked and couldn't pay me off at the end.  So my old man went and "discussed" it with him.  He came back about an hour later with my pay in hand which I immediately handed back to him to buy his truck.

Long after the truck was gone and I had moved out on my own, I found out that my dad had actually taken money out of his own pocket to pay me.  So I guess in the end, he really did give me the truck after all.

I have a lot of fond memories of that old truck. But having a pickup as you first vehicle does have a long term effect on a person.  I've almost always own some sort of truck ever since.  Only now, its a Dodge  :icon_smile_big:

A 1973 Dodge Dart Sport. Also sold it, before I got it running. It was a well optioned car, 8 3/4" rear, 340/4speed. Basically it originally came with every option save a torque flight. :P and I was a dumbass and let it go for a bill.

No pictures anymore, at least not on the computer.

This is my current pile o'rust. I don't consider it a project anymore.

This is my current daily  :D I was feeling unsafe in Memphis one day, and well, you know what they say. The rest is history.

well it wasn't a mopar, but i wanted one. i was fifteen, and a kid from school had a 68 gto he just bought from the origanal owner,a old lady. and i told him i wanted to buy it. he said show me the money, and i showed up the next day with the cash. i spent the next ten months painting and fixing it up, and was driving it the day i got my licence, and the day after i lost my licence for reckless driving and eluding an officer. :yesnod: had a 400 with his and hers hurst shifter, and plenty of poop for a sixteen yearold with a heavy right foot!

Zentelis

1978 Buick Skylark with the small block V8 and an automatic on the column. I bought it off a friend for $500.
Damn fun little car, let me tell you..it had just enough power for an 18 year old but not quite enough to get him in trouble :D
I did crazy stuff in that car though..drove like a madman everywhere I went.

Then the night before my first college class, I hit some black ice and hit a solid metal gate pole cemented in the ground. I destroyed the radiator, shifted the engine, twisted the A-frame, etc..but I still drove it uphill about a mile before I found out how bad it was. They just don't make 'em like that anymore :(

The ironic part was I wasn't even driving crazy..I was driving safely that night because it had just rained!
I also learned that black-ice is NOT a myth. We went back down to where I wrecked a little later and you could not see the ice at all..it wasn't shiny or reflective or anything..it was nearly invisible.

My first car was a 71 Charger SE.  I bought when I was 17.  It has a 69 440HP and an Air Grabber Hood :yesnod: I still have this car. Sorry. No available pics to post.  It was the baddest car in my high school...in my opinion.  I went to one of those schools where the kids parents bought them brand new cars with all the trimmings.  Thank god my parents were not like that.  It is good to work for the things you want!!

First car I ever bought was my 70 Challenger Convertible I still own.  I bought it back in 1982.  I inherited my wifes 1973 Ford LTD when we married in 1981.  First new car was a 1983 Omni/Charger
1969 Dodge Charger 500 440/727
1970 Challenger convertible 340/727
1970 Plymouth Duster FM3
1974 Dodge Dart /6/904
1983 Plymouth Scamp GT 2.2 Auto
1950 Dodge Pilot house pick up

my first car was a 71 charger 500 with a 318.  This car came out of a junk yard in 1979, it was the 3rd car up on a pile of cars.  It ended up in the junk yard just because of a broken drive shaft.  My dad spotted the tailights from a parking lot across the street and told them he wanted the car and payed $300 for it.  My dad gave it to me in 1992 as an early high school graduation gift.  I sold the car 3 years ago to a guy that bought it for his kids highschool graduation gift.

1969 Dodge Charger....318 car........got hit in the front end and damaged the grill, right fron tfender and twisted the frame a little. I only paid $800 for the car and put another $500 into it. Insurance gave me $1500 so I took it and it was scrapped. What a shame.....this was 1984 by the way....in the condition it was in even with the twisted frame it would probably sell on Epay for $10-15k

My dad gave me his first car, which was a 1968 Dodge Charger, /6 and 904 tranny.  I still have it today and drive it.  My dad used to pretend he was in the movie Bullit and did a little jumping in it down in Salinas, CA.  It will stay in the family.

My first car that i actually owned is my '68 Charger 318 auto. My first ever car was a '77 International Scout II 345 with a 727 auto with rallye package. Dad gave it to me when I was about 15 or so, we sold it to fund the Charger project. The pic is not of mine but the one I had was pretty much identical.

The year is 1966 and I just graduated from HS. Paid $500 for a white/black interior 1960 2 door Chevrolet Impala hardtop (283 automatic). Kept it about 1 year when I came across a yellow/black interior 1965 GTO convertible, 4 speed. Paid $1800 for the GTO.

Bought this in 1987 for 3K. It was a factory top banana/ green gut Charger 500. 3 days after getting the motor done (1989), I celebrated by hitting a tree and telephone poll at around 90mph. I walked away, but the car didn't  :bawling:. Worst driving mistake I ever made.
