Nice car! One question...why are the air cleaner studs sideways? What kind of intake/carb set up are you running?

Is the disc brake swap a SSBC set?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

That's a beautiful car, I love it. :2thumbs:

With the exception of the Hemi & the luggage rack, it's almost a duplicate of the first Charger I had in the early 80's. Red, black top, chrome magnums, & also a 69.

I am not sure , do they go in a different position? It has a mopar single intake with an edelbrock carb. I t runs good but I heard that holley is better for this car. Any suggestions?

stainless steel brakes. The only thing I don't like is they are hard since Hemis did not have power booster, correct? but I would like to have power brakes, I will probably do it in the future.

Car was perfect original underneath, at least I think it was original, probably was ziebarted at some point in the past, I am not sure, but anyway I did not touch theundercoated parts, I cleaned and repainted with a special paint that prevent rust and looks very nice, I like those show room clear coat jobs on teh undercarriage but honestly I did this car to drive it and enjoy it, with no fear of getting road debris damaging it, so now is all black uderneath.

This is what it should look like.

Note that the location of the ac studs go fore and aft, not side by side.

Some Hemis did have power brakes as an option. Super trac pac cars came with power disc brakes as well as 410 Dana and heavy duty cooling. There is a special bracket used to offset the booster away from the valve covers. See the picture I posted of my engine compartment above.

Nice silver car , one of the nicest engine bays if seen , that said why on earth would you not have a correct battery ? At least paint the battery black , you wont be drawn to a black one vs a bright green one .

That picture was taken when she was going together, I hadn't even put the hood on yet! I have the proper red cap battery in her now. I just needed to have something to start it back then.

also my air cleaner housing is hitting teh wiper motor...I know, I need the 3 speed one that is not as tall as the 2 speed, also looking for one, any idea where to find one in mint condition?
Rick
charger 69RT HEMI

Hemidoug

I'm sure somone is re-poping that set up. Look in some of the Mopar mags and make some calls, I'm sure you will find something. Keep in mind the original setup requires BOTH the bracket AND the special booster. There is a different rod end to the booster. You might find an original, but expect to pay BIG$$$$$$ for a set up. I found that one 10-15 years ago and paid 500.00 back then. Expect to pay 1500 to 2k for one now.

I'm curious about something. I hope you don't mind me asking, but why would you pay 2k for a date coded radiator for a clone? Don't get me wrong, you have a VERY nice car, and I have nothing against clones, but I don't understand why someone would go to that extreme for a clone. I would have gone with a nice aftermarket 4 core and saved the $$$ for some extra goodies. That is one of the good things about having a clone, you are not "obligated" to keep the car correct. That to me means a whole lot of artistic license. I had someone pay over 2500.00 for a clapped out 70 Hemi block for a clone Cuda. Not that I minded much, but I didn't understand it at the time. He could have bought a brand new block for 1800.00 and had a better motor (which, BTW is exactly what I did).

rickhemi

Thanks for your honest opinion, I believe you are somehow right. I think I wanted to have an original radiator instead an aftermarket since you can see the codes and the chrysler logo on top of the radiator as soon as you open the hood, I don't now, I was obsessed at that time , I just wanted to make mopar nuts at forst sight that it was a real Hemi (as long as they did not see the VIN number of course) .... thats why I looked for as many original parts as possible ...it si possible it will make my car more valuable? I hope so!
Rick
charger 69RT HEMI

Hemidoug

Just remember one thing...value is in the eye of the buyer and seller. If you are into this hobby for the car, the value of your car can only be calculated based on your attachment to it. As for me, my cars are my life. When my life is over (or my legs give out), those left behind will do what they do with them. I couldn't part with them for any price. In the end it's what a buyer is willing to pay, not so much what a seller wants. I think those who have clones are lucky. They don't have to be paranoid about what they own, how they drive, and how to enjoy. People think I'm nuts for driving the crap out of an original Hemi car, but that is EXACTLY why they were made in the first place. I grab gears every time I take her out! I think nothing of doing big smoky burnouts! But that's me, I'm into the Hobby, not the $$$$$$. Have fun with your car, that's ALL that matters, not what someone else thinks. If it is your dream car, enjoy the crap out of it. Life is too short not to...... :icon_smile_big: At the end of the day, we still get to drive home a Hemi car. Now THAT"S what it's ALL about!!!!!
71 R/T 440 6pak, 4spd Mr Norms GSD

rickhemi

I agree 100% , I drive my cars and enjoy them, show them, etc... this cars are ment to be driven... anyway, knowing the market value of my charger will prove my wife is not a waste money...lol.
