Which year(68,69,or 70) do you guys think has the most value and appeal for people?
Seems like a lot of people think 69s are the top of the ladder. What are other peoples opinions?

'69 is the media queen and gets all the recognition, and '69 owners eat it up.

I think the '68 is the peoples choice.

And everyone knows the '70 is the most valuable.

How's that for distribution?  :icon_smile_wink:  ;)

I see more '68's than anything else, maybe it's because they made alot more '68's than '70's. The '70 6-pack and Hemi Chargers are still my #1 choice.

hit the nail on the head there. there have been polls run on this site with 68 coming out tops, then 69 out of all the charger years.
My fav is the 68.

That about sums it up.  I don't think people care as much about years as they do for options and equipment on the car; a rustbucket all-original '70 hemi 4 speed will get more attention than a councours-correct '68 with a slant 6 and column shift.

Personally, I think the '68 is the best year: the best grill (I hate the chrome "labia" on the 70), tail lights, etc..

As long as you only want opinion I'll throw mine out. I think the 68/69 Charger is the best looking car ever built bar none. The 68 has it's advantages because I like the round tail and marker lights, but I prefer the 69 grill a tiny bit more, so I guess it's a wash between the two (I have a 69).

I truly detest 70's and would not even consider owning one --- My opinion only.

I think 69 and 70 tailights suit the shape of the car better, and I'm not keen on the 70 front bumper, so 69 for me, but I like 'em all

The 69 is my favorite. I have had a 68 and a 69 and I like the grill and tailights better on the 69. I also like the console and dashes better on the 69. I do not like the bumper/grill of the 70. But I do like the 70's interior the best. I love the front seats. Those are just my opinions.

I think when it comes to the few cosmetic differences of the car the 68 is the best. No offence to 69 and 70 owners but I don't care for the Pontiac split grill of 69 or the Chrysler 300 looking front end of the 70.

'68 is my favorite year. I really like the wide open '68 grill. However, I have to admit, I may like the '69 tail lights better than those of the '68.

Zentelis

'68..It's the tail lights that won me over. It was a toss up between '68 and '70 'cause I love that long single grill, but as soon as I saw Blade's triple-black '68, I knew which one I had to have :D

Triple Black? Doe's tipple black mean 'Black exterior, black convertable top and black interior." Or in are cases "Black exterior, black vinyl top and black interior."?

too hard for me to decide.. but truthfully i will say the 70 is MY personal least favorite, while it's my wife's favorite. i just think the bumper takes away from the flow of the body on a 70.. my wife of course, just likes it because it's  more chrome. by the way rotsparts, yes triple black is exactly what you are thinking

Take a 68 body, put in a 69 tailpanel and tailights and use the 70 interior and and a 70 trunklid with a wing, of course you would need 69 or 70 doors to use the 70 interior.....I think that would be one good looking car add a pistol grip 4 spd. just to really make it nice

The only drawback of the '68 is the short option list.

Hmmm. A car I don't have, and most likely never will, vs a car I don't have, and most likely never will, vs a car I don't have, and most likely never will. Hard choice for me. :P

I like the '68 Grill best, '69 tailights, but I like the '70's tailights just a well. I wouldn't mix and match one either, unles I grabbed a solid but stripped out car. Then I might consider it.

Why do you say will never have?  Do you not want one?  I can see saying, "I most likely will never have an original Hemi car or a Daytona but 2nd gens are still available and although prices are going up they are still not like e body prices".  If you truly want a 68, 69 or 70 you can get one.

Although I own a 68 R/T and love it, my ultimate favorite of the three is and always has been the 69.
My opinion is as follows:

68's: best interior
69's: best grille and taillight treatments
70's: cool tailights like the 69, but the grille is butt ugly like a big catfish! and all other 70 Mopar grilles...

Sorry, but the 70 is by far my least favorite...

Because I most likely won't. First off, I now have a bad back, thanks to a drunk in a Caravan. So a major project is out. I was trying to dump my truck because it's too much project for my back to handle. I'm only keeping it because no one wants a rolling frame and cab, even if it has a good rear end in it. Plus, that rear might come in handy. Second, prices have skyrocketed to the point where I've all but discounted a 2nd gen unless I get a much much better paying job than I have now. Gutted trash, needing everything, sells for more than I paid for any car I've owned save the Cobalt. Cars in tolerable shape, but needing work and restoration,  cost more than the $14k I paid for the Cobalt.

Now a 3rd gen, I can and probably will get. In fact, if it wasn't for my brother needing a loan, I'd have a '72 SE right now. I've passed up three so far, all three combined asked for less than the cheapest I've seen a decent 2nd gen go for. Only one of those three were in a relatively poor condition, and it was in better shape than my Dart. 1st Gens, I've never seen one for sale. :P But then I don't look for them that hard.

Believe me, I'd love to have one. I graduated from The Duke School of Driving for Juvienile Deliquents shortly after graduating from Elwood Blues' Defensive Driving School. But my cynicism and pessimism comes first, and that says realistically, I need a lucky lottery ticket to even get a project.

The 68 Charger is by far the ugliest one I think because it has the rear tail lights that look
like the beady eyes of a DoDo bird and the front grille just looks dull.

The 69 front grille looks like it shouldnt have the I piece and it makes me wanna
knock it out everytime I see it..but then it would look like the 68.

Now the 70 is in my opinion the best looking of the 3 because of the cool looking
front grille and bumper along with the better tail lights and of course

Has the best interior
Pistolgrip
Sixpack options
Electric Headlight motors
High Impact Colors
Hood Callouts
and other cool stuff...

It is just a better car all around in my opinion.

I was trying to be nice about it earlier but the front of the 70 sucks. They had it wright in 68, and the 69 is OK. But the designers were clearly out of idea's by 1970. They were on there third year of rehashing a design that was already as good as it was going to get.  Its like trying to change or improve one of Mozart's symphony's. Its already perfect. (I am talking about external appearance by the way. I would not hesitate to install a pistol grip in my 68. Now thats a cool shifter).

Oh and..... :stirthepot:

I like the 68s because to me they look less cluttered/showy.Personally I like the fact they were the least optioned 2nd gen charger.

gers1968rt

I might be a litlle biased, since I've owned two 68 chargers since 1979. The first kind of dropped in my lap  :o  and I couldn't help but love it. I remember a local guy had a 69 rt and after that all I wanted was a 68 rt. I love the fact it is more distintive with the round taillights, and a little simpler looking than the 69 or 70. I do however, also like the grill of the 69.
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

RECHRGD

OK, I'm a little biased, but the 68 is the cleanest looking of the three.  The 69 grill is too busy looking for me and the 70 front bumper just dosen't look like it belongs.  I do like them all, but the 68 will always be my favorite.  Bob

70 Charger all the way. Best of breed in my opinion. 68 and 69s don't look particularly "muscular"...the 70 looks beefed up and ready to kick ass.

If I had to choose second place....it'd go to the 71 R/T.
