Here are some pics of my cousin's 73 Barracuda.  I painted it on Tuesday night.  I think it came out exceptionally well given the conditions of the booth I shot it in.  Next week I am having him color sand it then I'll buff it out.  Maybe now I can get back to work on the Charger!!  Enjoy the pics!.

I have not idea what the total cost of the resto has been so far, but the paint was $160/gallon in a single stage Urethane.  I dumped 1.5 gallons on it (3 coats worth) and I'm going to need to get another quart to shoot the mirrors and the rear bumper filler piece and some to keep for touch up.  It took me about 3 hours to shoot it start to finish.  That includes wiping it down 3 times, cleaning it with some wax & grease remover, tacking it off twice, primer and 3 coats of paint.  I was about worn out when I was done.

Thats great you have paint on it, but from a painter, it looks like it's a bit orange peellie. You can always cut and buff it to make it look sweet. Sorry for bustin' your a$$, I'm just jealous that my car doesn't have paint.

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Seems like everyone is doing base coat/clear coat these days. I take it this one will be wet sanded rubbed out and waxed? Just curious.

Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

Thanks guys!  I shot this car with a single stage urethane.  It layed down nicely, 3 minor sags nothing major.  We'll be cutting and buffing it this week.  It cannot be waxed for at least 30 days, the solvents need time to escape.  Once all that is finished, time to reassemble.  THere will be the 1970 style hockey stick stripe added later on.  THe 340 designation is going to be replaced with 360 also.  The interior is going to be white/black.  One of the first things I want to do is get the dash housing back in and reinstall all the glass.  I took it out in the sunlight the other day and you definitly need some sunglasses to look at it, it is bright!!
I'm in the midst of doing the bodywork on the Charger now, trying to have it ready for paint or close to ready by Christmas.

:drool5: man, that baby looks sweet! I dig them ol' fish.  what kinda drivetrain goes in it?

BlueSS454

We are going with an aluminum headed 360, 727 auto, and a 8 3/4 posi fitted with 3.55 gears.  The stock interior is going back in.  I'm going for about 400 horse at the flywheel out of the engine.  We began color sanding the car this past week and it's coming up very nicely.  We should have the whole car color sanded and rubbed out within 2 weeks.

Please post pics of the results of the color sanding.  I'm debating single stage vs BC/CC.  There is a lot of savings to be had by using single stage, but I don't know how forgiving it is.  I have been shooting BC/CC on a few things to get used to it, but it cost me $400 to paint my Junior Dragster and that was only a quart of Viper Blue and the clear and the assorted reducers and catalysts.

Looks great!
