On each side of the block, down low near the front are pipe plugs for draining the block.

Rudy - Check out member Beer's motor, you can see the location of the freeze plugs (4) and the drain plug.

can i buy one of the freeze plugs??  i notice one of them has a hole in it.  Do they pop out or do i need a special tool??  thanks

I don't recall ever buying a single freeze plug, I think I've only bought them in complete sets. But I would guess that you should be able to  buy a single one from your auto parts store.

Goolge "freeze plug removal" or "removing freeze plugs" you'll be able to find the information you need.

I found this:

It's a pretty good description and I don't have to do all the typing myself.   ;)

They are available individually from a dealer or most auto parts stores
