After 2 years of trying to talk my buddy out of his Bee I called him this morning and made him an offer,He needed money so i bought his 69 Bee.I paid thru the nose but its a 69 number matching 383hp,4 speed superbee.Body is very very straight, does need to be restored and the only spot of rust is a fist size hole in the trunk. This is the same buddy i bought my 70 barracuda GC from 2 years ago.And ya i know
I will take pics this weekend.I paid 9k for the car but i think its worth it since a numbers bee that isnt eaten up with rust is hard to find for a decent price,Now the Chally really has to go since i hocked my arse to buy it.The bee has been in his shop since 1982 so its not all banged up

I guy her in southern IL bought a 70 bee pretty much as you described yours and he gave over 10 for it.  Sounds like you did OK.  Bottom line is, if your happy with the deal nothing else should matter.  Good luck with the restoration!

Thanks,I am sure I'm not the only one that has some type of buyers remorse. Not for buying the car but saying to myself after maybe i could have got it a little cheaper.I know many people have tried to buy the car from him over the years and he always told every one he wanted 12-15k.I just caught him on the right day when he needed money.

She must have been a power bulge hood originally? The reason is that she has the "383 Four Barrel" emblems on the front fenders. Ramcharger hoods had plain fenders and the "383" emblems on the scoops.

you done great!  ;D

Good purchase..but then again I'm a little partial to the 69 Coronets ;D

If that is a St. Louis built car, I'd be interested in knowing more if you wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks!

paid thru the nose? not hardly! If that Bee looks as good in person as it does in the pics, I'd clean it, go over the mechaics, then drive the crap out of it.
And keep the slots! they look sweet!

Obviously you find things after you get the car home.I do need to replace the trunk floor and rear filler panel, done that before, the rest of the car is very solid calif car,HEAVY undercoat, its going to be fun getting all that off in my resto.I just spent 2 months of weekends on my back under my cuda doing that.I blasted it  down to the metal and painted, they rest should be done in a few months when my painter can get to it.While my cuda is off being painted, the bee gets stripped for resto. The interior needs complete resto as well,I'm not complaining,I am extremely picky in doing a resto and every square centimeter has to be blasted and painted. Its all there though, all the trim is in good shape, dash top need replacing and the normal rebuild everything, except the tranny,it has a new rebuild on it(or when it was parked). The car doesnt have an ounce of bondo and is the striaghtest car i have ever bought as a project. Its a good solid project but not a driver, atleast to me.I could probably clean her up,redue interior and drive it but i want a ground up restored car.
My deal wasnt so bad in hindsight,I sold my 73 chally 2 days after buying the Bee(I bought the chally just to trade down the road and paid 2k for it 2 years ago,i sold it for 8300 without touching it.So the Bee techinically cost me 2700(700 out of pocket)Thats my kind of deal:)

Greater sin to damage or risk damaging the original beyond repair.......heh, heh.

If the 69 Runner 440 Six Barrel conversion plans follow through, the numbers matching 383 engine would sell with the car.

Great score by the way.  Enjoy hearing stories like yours.

I do always bag the original stuff and build what i can have fun with.Although I build the same as the car came with.A 440 would be nice,I have one that could go in it but i am more inclined to put a non numbers 383 back in and have fun.Atleast then it would be the same size and the 383 fender emblems would mean something.Of course not many people know the difference between a 440 and 383 unless they are mopar people. Most of them i could say i have the fabled 440 hemi and they wouldnt know any difference, lol
