Looks like the Charger is done after this year in NASCAR. It is about time.

Dodge and Chevy to change models in 2007? Beginning in 2007, Dodge and Chevrolet will campaign new models in Nextel Cup competition, Yahoo! Sports has learned. Dodge will run the Avenger, while Chevrolet will run the Impala SS, according to sources with some of NASCAR's manufacturers. The change also was indicated in a technical bulletin distributed to all teams last week. Both Dodge and Chevy soon will announce that they have been given approval by NASCAR to change to the new models, with Chevy's announcement possibly coming as soon as this week. JAYSKI.com

The rumour is that the 'pony' cars (Challenger, Mustang, Camaro) will run in the Busch Series by 2009-2010 as a way of differentiating it from the Cup series.

Have you guys SEEN the new Avenger?  Looks like a cross between the Caliber and the Charger.  I fail to see how it will do any better than the Charger did.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

It will at least make it easier to justify the supposed homologation with NASCAR cars, since at least the front end of the car is more aerodynamically adept than the forward angled Charger.

I was thinking the same thing. But you know a "NASCAR" car looks nothing like the "real" car. . . Example was the NASCAR Charger version. I thought they looked kinda cool. Here is Newmans Charger at the Brickyard.

It won't make a bit of difference what they are using next because when that "car of tomarrow" comes out they will essentually be the same car across the board only using decals to define the different car manufacturers. (not that there pretty much so doing that these days anyway.)

You thought NASCAR has sucked recently with the introdution of the charger. Just wait. It's going to get a lot worse. Appearance wise that is.

Stock car racing.....yeah....right....not

I'm sure the restricted speeds are going to get even more restricted and everythings going to be pretty ugly, boring and pethetic. Especially with Toyota running in there soon.

ick. ::)

I wish some of these old school drivers would tell nascar to stick it where the sun don't shine and put tegether there own stock car using actual stock cars and just start over again the way it should be done. (original body's with sup'd up motors beating the hell out of each other out on there own tracks. That would be great. Never happen though.

I think that like the Monte Carlo fallout, the Charger's gonna stick around for the non-COT races, and the Avenger will be the one they use for the COT races.

Great, a mini-Charger with that stupid grill again. I'm sure it's powered by a rubber band or maybe eggshells and banana peels. Trevor Creed strikes again.

Yeah, it IS kinda amazing that they'd copy the '06 Charger's styling onto another car.

You'd think they'd learn something after the debacle it caused last year.

Hey remember the big song and dance about fourdoors are in and how there's no market?... i understand economies of scale and profit margin but holy crap batman what's so hard about it?.. they have three cars on the same platform allready,.. 300 magnum are fine fourdoors but a "Charger!" need to be a two door hard top and I'm stickin to that feeling. Sure the Chally's nice but dcx had a chance to knock the ford pony car on it's ass,.. and didn't.
The Stang is baised on the fourdoor jag x type which i think was baised on the europien Mondaro. late again fellas?..
DCX was too late with it's products and still is behind the curve, used to be mopars were ahead of the curve. The PT was the last product they launched "Hot".
The Pacifica was "late" and everything since seems "at least" a year late. Products that are "right" on time are crucial to market share,
the turn around is alot faster in Asia maybe twice as fast.
BTW:  I looked at a big Acura CL today that seemed pretty sweet...  :-\
kinda narrow, the Govt. regs favor narrow cars... they styled it to look wide though with big wheels, still like my 300 M better though..
it's wider..

ah, but I digress...  :blahblah:

I thought last Charger running on Nascar was back in the lates 70s with a 43 on it, if so, then Charger was done LOOONG TIME AGO.

Chrysler is bleeding money now too to the tune of $1.47 billion. Hopefully the Germans will get fed up and cut it loose for a song and the new owner will start making some 'American'-looking cars again before they completely go belly-up.
