Guys,

I have purchased the mopar low oil pressure switch to install in my Duster, but I would like to know the best way to install it. It didn't come with any instructions. The part number for the switch is p4120223.

Thanks in advance...

Rob

where you found it ? I'm REALLY interested on get one

Mostly its function is to cut the power to electric choke control, in that way for a while engine is not running then you don't have power draining out without need to the electric choke control.

As far I remember they drives ground coming from oil sender and positive flowing to electrick choke control. for a while you don't have ground ( any lever ) coming from oil sender, then they don't feed the electric choke control, but you can use it also to cut any positive source when you don't have oil sender ground.

For it's position on wiring, also cuts power to electric regulator and alt brush untill engine starts on

The middle terminal functioned like an ordinary oil pressure switch, it provided ground to turn on the oil pressure light when there was no oil pressure.

The other two terminals were wired between the ignition switch and choke heater.  When you had oil pressure it would allow power to the choke heater.  That way if you left the key on without starting the car the choke wouldn't get warmed up.

HEY PLUM... THAT ONE ONLY WORKS TO LIGHTS KIND ? there is someone to gauge ?

a diagram I have somewhere ilustrate a different deviice than the oil sender itself so doesn't match with the one you describe

I bought this a number of years ago and haven't got around to install it.  Of course it never had any documentation thus I wasn't in a big hurry to install it without instructions.

I will take a picture of it and post it tonight.

Thanks again!

I'd like to see a picture of the sending unit.

If it's the one I'm thinking it is, it  worked with an oil warning light and only shut off power to the choke heater when the engine wasn't running.

If the vehicle had a gauge Chrysler used an adapter that the bell shaped sending unit and small oil pressure switch both screwed into.

Here are a couple pics...my camera is not the greatest!

That's not the switch I was thinking of but it looks like it could be used the same way.   I'm assuming you want the engine to shut down by itself if you lose oil pressure.

The bottom is threaded and looks to screw into the place where the standard oil sensor would go. The back or top of this has what seems to be 3 terminals.  One terminal has a screw through it and the other 2 seem to be reset within the device.  When I opened the bag it came with 2 lock washers and 1 nut.  I haven't a clue to where they would go as there isn't a place to put the nut, not to mention the 2 lock washers.

I will try to get a better pic posted of the 3 terminals tonight.

Here is a closer look...

It appears though that it has 2 terminals...as originally look like 3.

Thanks.

I think you'll find you only have continuity between the two terminals when there is oil pressure.
