1971 383 Charger Exhaust

just bought a 71 SE and found that the exhaust has magnum manifolds with a single exhaust. It apperas to be a stock. Was that common? Seems pretty strange. It appears that the exhaust has been changed.

Generarly the 383 performance  N code cars had dual exhaust with the high performance manifolds....

What is your VIN it should have an N in it.

Also, if the car still have the fender tag it should have the info on what exhuast you should have as well.

My exhaust code is N41 for dual exhaust without tips.

My fender tag reads.

A 383 2bbl car will in 99% of cases have one HP manifold, one standard manifiold, and single exhaust.
