Any 68-69 owners have their hood signal lights out of the car?

If so, could someone measure the length of the wire? I need to make new wires for mine, so if someone could measure from the edge of the white plastic sleeve that sticks out of the light housing to the tip of the bullet terminal, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, does anyone know how much wire is visible from the signal light to where it goes inside the hood bracing? I'm going to have to make a splice in the wires somewhere and I don't want it to be visible. Thanks.

Mine are out of the car but they're also gone forever. At least I bumped your thread to the top though.

When I replaced mine they came with wires that were too short for my needs.  I also found that routing them through the hood bracing was not an easy task.  But since I had to use a barrel connector to add length anyway, I chose to run the wire under my hood insulation with the barrel connector tucked nicely out of site.

You could use some fish tape or bailing wire to run the wires through the proper spots. Are barrel connectors the same as butt connectors? If so you saved yourself craploads of money rather than buying new wires but I prefer to solder wires and then put some heat shrink tubing over the uninsulated area. That way the wires have less resistance and the heat shrink blends in well with the existing insulation.

Bull-itt, your absolutely right.  Soldering and heat shrinking is by far the preferred method.  On my boat trailer, I solder every connection and then use liquid electrical tape to seal all connections and grounding points (to keep the salt water out) and it works really well.  Not nearly as neat and clean as heat shrink, but its a perfect seal.

I would have done as you discribed with my wires but I was out of heat shrink.  I don't know what a bull connector is but a barrel connector like I'm talking about is basically shove the wire in both ends and crimp. I suspect we are referring to the same thing?
