On the old board, there were a couple of "building up a 318" posts that i participated in. My normal responses were on the negative side.... being "why bother, build a 360" and comments like that.

Well today.......... i picked up some late model magnum 318 heads while i was out junkyarding. Seems like they are the head of choice
if one doesnt have the $$ for eddy heads. My cost was a whopping $56 and 45 minutes of my time to get them off a truck.

I`m going to go ahead and build one of the 318`s that i have. Even if it does mean that i am a hypocrite. :-[

heres a couple pics

Is it just me, or does one of the quesnch areas on your head have a really nasty bash in it?
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Yes, i saw that when i was taking the pics. Though the damage isnt as bad as the pics look, there  is actually a small chunk of material that broke away. The only thing i can think of is that it happened as I was in a hurry to get out of the JY and dropped the 1st head into my wheel-barrow from about 3-4 inches instead of gently laying it down.

would a set of these heads work okay on a 73 340?  I had forgotten about it, but i have a 73 340 minus 1 head sitting in my storage unit. Obviously i can get a set of these  later model heads a LOT cheaper than original 340 heads.

Lightning

yep, those heads will bolt on all LA motors, you'll just need the hydraulic cam parts too.  (Mopar makes a kit for it)
when racing deals fall apart.....you go home, like me.

RD

make sure you get those heads checked out... my machine shop states that those heads often have cracks between the intake and exhaust valves.

Are those for his neighbor's car, or do they really bolt on those 318 heads? ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
