I'm building a 440 and was wondering what compression pistons i should use?I was thinking about kb flat top 10.25's.I want a hot street motor with around 425-435 hp,the motor will never go over 6,000 rpm's .here is my build so far.

440 maybe 30 over
906 heads mildly ported
steelĀ  crank
mighty demon 750
wieand action plus intake duel plane
headers
mp 175 k stall
323 gears 25 inch tall tires
lunati voodoo cam
Advertised Duration IN/EX: 262/268
Duration @ .050 IN/EX: 220/226
Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .475"/.494"
LSA / ICL: 112/108
Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 1400-5800

also will i have a noticeable lopy idol with this cam on a 112 ?

i know i would use 3.55s,not the 3.23s-the bottom end will be kinda weak with out the extra gear to get you in the power band, and i would stick with a little less compression, maybe 9.5 or so with the cast iron heads

I gotta agree with what Andy said about the compression on the iron head and gearing, just adding my 2 cents.
Otherwise looks like a great engine.

The KB flat tops with a 88-90 cc chamber head will be less then 10.1, more like 9.3 to 9.4 with a .040 gasket & an undecked block, i think they make a step piston that gives around 9.7 to 9.8., i ran the KB FTs in a 440 & it ran fine on pump premium, just for added insurance, de-burr & polish the chambers on the heads to eliminate any hot spots.

the cam wil have a mild lope to it
I would never use a KB piston , use the L2355F speed Pro instead

:iagree: The 2355's with an open chamber head will result in a pump gas friendly 9.3-9.5:1 compression ratio. The rest of the build looks fine. :icon_smile_cool:

:iagree: also, use the 2355's, i ran these in another 440 build (loved em) "after having problems with the KBs" :icon_smile_blackeye: >:(
