I've been trying to talk Gandalf into turning one of his cars into an "Ultimate 3rd Gen" for some time. Big block, 5-speed, pistol grip,drop-top, Dayclona kit, what have you. I even offered to donate the Shaker to the project, but, he won't do it, the SLACKER!!!! Maybe if we all gang up on him, and really give him some heat about it, we can change his mind.     You know, the ol' "Grab 'em by the sack, and their hearts and minds will follow"... gig. Speaking of Gandalf, where the heck has he been???

Me too :yesnod: .

I really don't know what I think of a convertible Charger. On one hand there pretty unique and it would be pretty cool to cruise around in a Charger with the top down. On the other hand I agree with CB when he said you'll loose those typical lines by cutting it up. Plus, a project like that is way to comlex for me.

A convertible is not for everyone,if they were than there would have been way more converts produced than hardtops.I personally love driving my Charger convertible! The car gives me the best of both worlds!I get to enjoy everything I love about my Chargers, and I get the topless effect of a convertible! I used the corners of the boot moldings, and the boby lines of the Satelite to simulate the aera where the fins would be on the hardtop, and I gradually faded the lines where the fins would have ended on the hard top. This gives the car a Charger only look.I am surprised about the negative responses to the concept! I didn't cut up a good Charger to build the car,I used a rusty old Satelite that rotted in someones yard, and I saved it from the crusher.I have had my car at most of the major mopar shows in the last 5 years, and I have never recived any negative response to the car!

Well, 'vert, there are those who believe every vehicle should be exactly as it rolled off the assembly line. It is my personal opinion that nothing has ever left a factory "good enough". There is a reason for the billion dollar plus aftermarket industry. I'm a T-top guy myself, but the removeable hardtop idea just will not go away...

Hey kab,I like the idea of a removable roof panel! But I think T tops would be too GMish. Let your imagination roll, and have fun with it! As I said before,it helps keep the hobby intersting! I like to see Mopars done as original, and I have a few that are restored that way,but I have had way more fun doing the one off cars that my friends and I have been building for the last six years!

Blown70

I used to be one of the ONLY ORIGINAL ONLY PEOPLE.  Now well go look at the last page of the Pictures....
ANY THING BUT.....

I personally like a car with aftermarket wheels, ignition, etc. that my make the car better.

I belive that there is plenty of room in the Mopar world for all types of restos! I love to see the original cars, but I can also appreciate clones, modified cars(weather there done period correct,or done modern modified)customs, racecars, and the one off cars like my friends and I build!I say build what you like, and enjoy! All of these cars help keep the Mopars in the spotlight!I do suggest that people use caution on what cars they start with though!I always try to keep the numbers cars intact, but if I do decide to modify a numbers car, than I won't do anything to the car that cannot be changed back to stock! Those are my words to live by!

Yes it does, and I'm surprised. Looks way better on 3rd gen than 2nd gen IMO.

Now I wonder whats involved with the convertible conversion? That is a lot of work for a 3rd gen

JB400

I'd say you'd have to go with E body convertible parts.  Chrysler never made a convertible 3rd gen b body in any make.  Chassis stiffening will be the biggie.

Old Tired Rebel

it looks like it more work than a person like, me could do. But would like to see it done.

polywideblock

could one  be built as a "roadster" with no roof , like the ones chip foose builds  . sunny weather only but it would still be cool

Could be, I will be driving mine all the time once it gets done.
