I am just looking for opinions! First off I am building my 440!!!
I have a NICE set of Direct Connection blue anodized valve covers that would match the car. Would you use them or just hang them on the wall? They where never used, still in the box!
Next is the intake, I am using the Eddelbrock Performer RPM, would you paint it or would you leave it? I clear coated the valley pan. I like the look it has just plain.
I am going to use the dual snorkel air cleaner with the black wrinkle finish.
Thanks, Zack

i dont really get all oogly over stock looking engine bays, so i would leave the intake plain, or have it powdercoated  clear or silver and i would run the dc valve covers becasue they are different.

I too like the intake unpainted, though I have never had any luck getting clear to last on em.  As the valve covers go, personally I don't like annodized, looks to 80'sish for me.  I personally think the aluminum mopar black valve covers are hard to beat.  Just my opinion.  Nice car there...

I like them all and I would run the DC covers as I love OLD SCHOOL........................

Zack, just a heads up : The Performer RPM is a tall manifold....you won't be able to use the factory air cleaner due to hood clearance issues. You will also need to go with modified throttle and kickdown linkages with this manifold, as well.

Fwiw, i'm with Steve....luv the old school look. An orange 440 with blue DC valvecovers looks great under the hood !  :icon_smile_cool:

I'm just wondering what they would be worth in say another 20 years??

Maybe they SHOULD go back in the bags and back in the boxes and then under the BED.....   ???

Then again,, how cool would it be to be showing off a piece of the past?? I think they are very fitting for a muscle car....

I'd paint the intake and go with black valve covers.

I think those valve covers look cheap, but it's all about preference. go with what you think looks good :yesnod:

DO NOT CLEAR COAT ANYTHING!!!!  You will end up with a gold intake and valley pan. The continued heat cycling with yellow the cleared parts. http://geocities.com/kc8lbo/charger/charger.html  Look at my engine bay. I have the RPM intake and painted it engine color. I also used the stock valve covers for the stock look. I also have the Mighty Demon and an 8AN fuel log. If you want the intake to look like aluminum then paint it aluminum color. That way it won't discolor with gas and oil that won't wipe out of the porous aluminum. I am partial to my engine. Does it look like it has around 485 horse and should do 12.99 or faster?

Oh, I forgot to tell you that since those pics, I have had the engine back out and had the Edelbrock and Performer RPM letters ground off the intake. I sand blasted it again and after a rewash I repainted it stock color. I think it looks good like that. A good mix of stock and aftermarket.
