Me too, almost looks like it has 71 headlight doors and 72 center sections.

You know what........I think you guys are right!   I've never had any of these 3rd generation Chargers but have been looking at photos and I think you are correct they dont match the grill.  So anyone got the right doors for a 72 for a pair of 71's???????   let me know,  also looking for the entire under hood harness for the car. (it has AIR) and turn signal lense's for the front.  Thanks everyone for the intrest in my newest purchase.

Hello Everybody

It has been quite some time since I posted on this site and figured now was as good a time as any to drop on in, I have a couple questions and wanted to get everyones opinions. When I originally started this thread I was in the process of having my 72 Ralley restored and had lots of questions and received a lot of good input from several of you, the car is nearing completion and I am told will be ready for Carlisle in less than two months.

1st, I have several pictures of the car that have been taken during the restoration process and would like to start posting some of them so that all of you can see what kind of work has been done and where this project currently stands. is it ok to post the pictures in this thread or would it need to be started in a new thread in another section of the site?

2nd, One of the few remaining decisions I have to make on this car is what type of wheel I would like to put on the car. I would like your opinions and any pics that you might be willing to share of 3rd gen wheel tire combos to hopefully make my decision a little easier, same question, is it ok to post the pictures in this thread or would it need to be started in a new thread in another section of the site?

Thanks everybody

I think some 15" Rallye wheels would look great on her.

Chris

15 inch Ralley Wheels with the 71 centercaps are being considered, thanks.

Lots of good stats on this thread. Love seeing topics on the coolest Charger that Dodge made.... :2thumbs:

Just bought back one I used to own. 72, 400, 4spd, #'s matching and added a 72, 440, 4spd, dana #'s match towards the end of last year. I'm keeping my eye open for a 340, 4spd and a 318 rallye. According to the white book the 318's came in a 3 spd only? I've seen a 318, auto, 72 rallye and the guy also owns a 72 rallye 440, 4spd, dana, cp. 1 of the 11 w/the non roll down 1/4 windows and a few years back I remember a friend had a chance to buy a yellow one out of Las Vegas.

The green ralley with the 71 center caps looks really good, so much better than the 71 centercaps.

Picture of charger getting ready to go and get stripped!

Chris

Sorry, I meant that the 71 caps look sharper than the 72 caps.

Great pics so far.  My :Twocents:, When you have the project completed (as if we are ever finished :smilielol:), start a new thread that has all the shots in one place right up front.  That saves us from searching multiple pages just to see updates.  But I do love seeing progress shots.

Good luck on the whole project.

I was excited to see that this post was still alive!   Did we ever figure out how many 340-4speed Rallye cars were produced?    I own one that the rear windows roll down.    Mine seems to have a ton of options,  I wish we could break that down somemore.

Anyways,  Keep up the good work!
