Good morning
A friend or mine got a 413 engine for sale.I do not know much about these engines.

Is it better than a 383 or 440 ?
Will a big block 727 bolt up to it?

Opinions and thoughts welcome.

If you have the new Mopar Muscle there's a pretty good response to a tech question on the 413s. The gist of it was that they're hard to find non-custom pistons for. Basically, it's an underbored 426w. Aren't they old enough to have the now oddball four bolt valve covers?

What year 413 & what is it out of ?
the 413 is Ok  , the smallest RB block , but there were truck , motorhome or regular heads used depending on application & year
most will accept a 727 trans again depending on the year , early 60s had some differences

i beleive only the max wedge's got the 4 bolt valve covers....and i have heard that 413's have thicker main castings but i'm not 100% sure...i am thinking of boring mine out to 426 but havn't decided quite yet

later
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....
