Does anyone know what size c.i. V8 engines the "big 3" are using in nascar right now?

Thanks, that artical says the dodge engines are based on a 340 block bored to 358. Anyone know about ford and chevy?

Highbanked Hauler

Fords are built off a 351 and Chevy off a 350 cu in. I think, also I have heard that  the race block was recast to take a Chevy crankshaft.

actually, the R5 blocks are a unique design, and only the P7 heads can bolt onto them.  I hear that Ford and Chevy are doing the same thing: unique blocks and heads for their motors.

the days of NASCAR actually using production-based motors dissappeared back in the early '90's.
when racing deals fall apart.....you go home, like me.

myk

If the Big 3 can cast one off race blocks, so can Toyotee.
I thought I had heard someplace that NASCAR was talking of going to a single engine template for all teams to use not unlike their body conformity.  Anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Who are the Big 3 these days?

Isn't Toyotee one of them?

yep, Toyota's the first one to use it, Chevy and Ford are having problems with theirs, Dodge I've heard is about 70% there.

The Big 3 will always be the Big 3 to me even when they become the Bottom 3 a little later next year. :icon_smile_big:  (they actually vanished when Chrysler was bought out by Daimler)

Big 3 U.S. is GM, Ford and Chrysler. Big 3 Japanese are "Toyota, Honda and Nissan" Which one is their dodge? and don't say mitsubishi. My guess would be "datsun" which turned into nissan.

I haven't heard much about that since early last year.  Jayski had some stuff about that way-back-when, although I think that the test-balloon the France's floated didn't go over too well.  My interest in NA$CAR will complete its swan dive if they make that move.  I'm struggling to maintain a passing interest in it as it stands.

If that happens, just consider it IROC with a bigger Public Relations machine.

That's what I've considered it for a long time already now Geno. :'(
