I plan on replacing all of my wiring harnesses in my 69 Charger R/T.  Where would any of you recommend I go to buy these?  I see Year One has replacement harnesses that are like factory, but is there any others out there that you folks may have had good luck with?  Also, what have some of you done to upgrade your electrical systems?  Example:  Higher amperage alternators, amp gauge/volt meter change over, upgraded tac, electronic ignition is a must (I'm considering MSD), and anything else I've missed.  Thanks.

Shakey

My car has all new wiring from Year One.  Stuff is top notch.

Can't comment on any other vendors.

New wiring = a wise choice!   :yesnod:

I'm pretty much agree with shakey! on the new wiring harnesses :yesnod:

For the headlight harness I did get that through year one
As for the neutral switch/wiper motor harness, I had Rick Kish from Canada for his expertise, AS he rebuilt my wiper motor as well :2thumbs:
For the engine harness I end up buying that through Hardens muscle world ,out of Lexington MO.

I know it is not a "wiring harness" But for the vacuum hoses I went through on the group buy, on this site!

for headlamps and brake lamps, use the original feeds to trigger relays. the relays provide full batt. power to lamps, making em as bright as modern cars. another benefit is that you dont have all that aperage flowing through dash/steering column pieces  ;D

y msd? u racing it? those boxes are very niice but are kinda a waste if its just a daily cruiser.. it would be like putting high strength high lift valve springs on a regular daily driver motor. niice but no need.

Thanks for your advise.  That is why I am doing my homework now before I purchase anything.  As for the MSD system.  I only mentioned it since that's all I usually hear people talk about.  No, I'm not planning on racing this car.  I plan on having a streetable, have fun on the back country roads, show car.  What would you recommend for the upgrade from a points system to electronic.  Again, thanks for your help.

dont get me wrong, the msd is real niice. have a friend with one on his car, the thing can arc a gap 1" or more. very powerful, but to me its overkill in a street car.

what i have is the pertronix ignitor kit. whole thing fits under distributor cap. only two wires for hook up. done. and its under $100. i like the ease and simplicity, and its solid  ;)

i think the yearone harnesses are the way to go.

I have YO harnesses in my car too.  They're made by M&H but they only retail their Mopar harnesses through Year One.  They are excellent and it is some of the best money I have ever spent on the car.

M+H , sold thru Year one . no exceptions.

A friend of mine replaced every wire harness in his 74 challenger. with ZERO problems

Headlight upgrade is AWESOME heres the link http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,168.0.html it only cost Like 10 - 15 bucks complete. and i hid under the battery tray, with access to relays and fuses without removing battery / tray. I used the 2 fuse method, one for high and 1 for low beams got my power from starter battery wire, and placed in that harness, no one sees the upgrade, unless i point it out. Electronic upgrade I used off the shelf components just so i can walk in any parts store and replace if i need to (i did consider the pertronix one). As for wiring harness, Y/O even has one with the connections for the electronic ignition upgrade.

Good luck and best wishes :)
