Hey guys,

I finally got my tremec into the charger tonight..great fit! but I'm having a problem with the z bar linkage. the ball stud bracket on the frame rail was recently mig welded on..but it's about a quarter of an inch too far back. The z bar is torqed and I can't get the ball stud to seat. I'm thinking of shaving the left side of the slot that accepts the stud threads..but this would cause some slack where the bolt threads would be?? Any suggestions?

Sorry Eric. Can't help you without seeing it.. From the way it sounds though, you may want to grind off and re weld the stud in the propper position. You sure don't want the bar hanging or dragging..

That's what I was going to say.  The last thing you want is some play on the ball stud due to shaved threads or the z-bar not lined up exactly.  That sounds like it would cause for some big problems later.

thanks guys..I hope there is another way out..the motor and tranny is freshly in..and the bracket is fully welded.. not just tacked in a few spots :'(  its a hemi..so getting acces to even work on it is tough enough..if I ground it down a little..there would be slack in the bolt..but I could put a tight crank down on the ball stud nut?? wishfull thinking? or possible?

with a die grinder you should be able to slot the bracket forward  , there is a LOT of pressure on the braket though , use a large fender washer to spread the load aas much as possible , or weld in the area of the holel you will not need through the hole in the inner fender

Thanks chryco,

i think thats what i'm going to have to do..I'll put a couple of welds over the big washer too.
