winter storage

herd that if you put dryer sheets in your car when you store it, it will keep the mice out.  and smell good to.   have anyone tried this? does it work better than those stinky moth balls?  i was told this is the factory practice for motorhome storage.

Here is Pittsburgh PA I put The Colonel in "Brady's Bend Underground Storage".  They are old Limestone caves they now use for storage, and do have climate control.  I have heard that dryer sheets do work for the mice, and just another tip for ya'll, if you didn't know already, getting a aluminum pan and putting Charcoal in it will also suck up ny moisture in your car.

No problem with the tip there bud.  Let's just say with the window seals in The Colonel, I have had to use the charcoal before.  It does work.

I never heard of either methods. I'll have to try the coal one though cause where my car is, is not the dryest in the spring.

Does anybody remember those giant car storage bags called omni bag? i had my Satellite in one for three years. It came with a large bag of desicant to remove the moisture that was in the bag when it was sealed. When I took the car out it looked like the day I put it in.  If you are going to store a engine for a long peroid of time pull the rockers arem's so the cylinder's are closed. Dump some oil in the holes first.

My father used to have a '77 Chrysler New Yorker, and when he put it in theBrady's Bend Limestone Caves, ( Non-Climate Control Section ) he went back a few months later to check on it, and he started getting a little mold on the dash.  The guy that worked there said about the Charcoal, and it taking the moisture out of the car, and sure enough the next time he went back to get it out for the spring, there was not a spec of mold in the car.

Last year when I put The Colonel away,  I use the climate control section, but still put a pan on the front floor and one in the back.  I also stick one in the trunk.  It won't hurt.  I never had a problem with the moisture.  Give it a shot.

Would I be crazy to put a cover on my car, then put it in the carbag and then put it in the car capsule?

The cover keeps the carbag from scratching (carbag insists that you use a cover).
The carbag will keep everything sealed up and deal with the moisture.
The Capsule will keep things from bouncing off the car.
The garage will keep the capsule safe.

Now, what can put around my garage....?

they tell you to roll your windows down an inch or two. then put the car cover on.  then close the capsule. it has fans that dries out moister. Rene
