everyone after years of searching for any classic muscle mopar. i have unbelievably purchased an all original, documented 86k miles,  never touched, always garaged  68 charger at a good price! all options ps tach 727 trans except ac. not wanting to mess up too much of a good thing, it is a factory 383 with 2 bbl carb. my only immediate planned changes are: intake manifold, carb, headers, and exhaust. what do you think are some good combos, and what kind of increase over stock am i looking at? if i have decoded it right it has some tall 2.76 gears. you're help would be greatly appreciated. haven't slept for a week since i bought it, going to pick it up today yyyeeeeeehhaaaawwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on finding a nice ride !
depends what you want to do , the Factroy Iron 4 bbl or the M1 alum version is a much better intake than most give it credit for & works well in the stock RPM range , I would be more inclined to do a cam & valve spring swap than headers if you have HP manifolds , Personally I would use a Holley 750 on the manifold , Holley has at least 14 different 750s with different chokes or no choke at all , & mechanical or vacuum secondaries

My only addition to this post would be that a 2 bbl engine came with some nasty exhaust logs. I know this from experience. I bought a set of Dynomax Ceramic coated headers from Summit, $250, and had 2 1/2 inch "x" pipe made with a full exhaust. Go for the M-1 dual plane intake and a Holley style carb.  Get rid of those 2.76 gears. Been there done that. 3.55 will do you well for many upgrades. Also go with the electronic conversion with the distribtor. When you go with a cam, Chryco is an engine builder, he is right when saying match it with springs. I would go for the adjustable Comp Cams rocker kit. I have used mine for a couple of builds. The rocker kit will work with any build you plan in the future. Ok, it is a long addition but I hope it helps.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

If it were me, I'd go with either the factory dual plane or Edel Performer, topped with either an AFB, AVS, or most likely a ThermoQuad for the best of all worlds.  You could probably slip in a slightly hotter cam without any driveability issues, and small-tube headers and duals would be a big step up in the exhaust dept.  Electronic ignition FIRST.

i would take a stock iron 4 bbl intake over a eddy performer any day. i did that swap on a stock 69 383 and the i lost bottom end power with the performer so i went back with the stock iron intake and got the lost power back.

depending on your mech ability the holley carbs are great but can be a nightmare if you don't know how to set them up.

the afb/avs are more user friendly and generally work very well right out of the box.
