'68 spindle threaded or not?

Wondering if the bolt holding the lower ball joint passes throught the spindle with a nut on the other side, or is the spindle threaded? My '68 has discs up front, but look close at the pic.  The lower ball joint/steering arm is bolted to the spindle with no nut on the other side of the spindle.  The spindle is threaded.  My local Mopar smart guy, says that in '68, the bolts passed strait through with a nut on the other side.  Now I don't know what I have here, and the spindle is cross threaded really bad, so I need to find a new one.  Or, if this is the correct one for '68, did someone modify it at some point in time?  I'll maybe drill them out and use the right pass through type set-up.

The bolts looks backwards to me. Do your calipers have dual cylinders? I think that would be a factory set up if they were available in 68. They were available in other years but from what I understand are pretty rare. If there single wheel cylinder then they could be off a latter A or B body, but if thats the case the bolts should run threw the spindle, then the ball joint, and then have nut on the other side.

I have 1975 A body disc brakes on the front of my 68, and even the drum brake spindles (that I still have) are set up the same way.

The only thing I am not sure of is how the later 70"s F J body cars like the Aspen for example are set up. I could be wrong but I think I've read it some where that the Aspen spindles will bolt on to your Charger. Weather your car will handle properly with the Aspen spindles is still being debated. But without an exploded view of the F J spindle I don't know if ther threaded. I'm thinking if there is enough meat on the spindle maybe the holes could be drilled out just enough for new bolts to run threw and be bolted on the other side. But only if the bolt heads will clear your rotor.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

rots, I think I found the evidence that I was looking for.  An excellent resto of a 69 Hemi Charger shows the same thing, so I'm good to go.

And I don't need to get a replacement for mine.  A local machine shop retapped the spindle.  It turned out awsome, for $6 bucks.   :yesnod:
