Hey guys,

i finally got the hemi in the charger tonight..one question..the passenger side valve cover is smacked right up against the top of the shock tower?  I have shumacher mounts everything fits great except that..I mean i was concerned about the drivers side motor mount having to be shaved a bit.. but i did'nt think i had to? the bolt went in..question..if any cutting had to be done to the drivers side mount..i would not have been able to get the motor mount bolt through right?? Why is the motor kicked so hard to the left? I'm ready to jack the motor up a bit and hit the shock tower with a ballpean hammer for clearence..unless i can get a better suggestion??? thanks!

which valve covers are you using ??
if the bolt is in the left mount it should be correct , is the engine level in the car ?

thanks for your response..my invoice for my engine says the valve covers are indy aluminum part # ind-426-12s     I have'nt checked the level yet..whts the best way? Just put a level on the carb flange?

i have those same mounts on my hemi sitting in a 70 challenger. i have just enough space to get my index finger between the shock tower and the factory chrome valve cover.

i'm not 100% certain but i think those valve covers may be slightly taller and wider then a stock cover.

try loosing up the mounts where the spool bolt is and jack the engine around a bit. i had to do that as well and once i got it where i wanted it i tightened the spool bolt up and the engine will stay right there.

i also used a 4 foot level across the engine compartment and measured down from the level to the top of the valve covers to get the engine sitting the way i wanted it.

hey Max,

thanks for the response and pics..your engine looks great..I found out today..the valve covers are taller and wider than stock..I'll just have to play with the adjustment..thanks!

Schiumacker has a taller mount , contact them , tell them your problem & they will make it right

thanks very much on the compliment. i was thinking those valve covers were taller/wider but i wasn't 100% sure.
hope you can find a good clean fix for your problem but i don't know of any right off hand. ???

yes, they do make the engine sit higher then stock and i have read on other boards that guys are opening up the hole mount on the block side of the bracket and dropping the engine down to correct height.

but in this case that would only make the problem worse since the valve cover is interferring with the shock tower.

i haven't heard of a proper fix for the taller valve cover problem yet but i have heard of guys cutting the inner fenders for the clearance they need and refabbing the area with a new piece of metal to accomadate the notch, but that wouldn't be something i would want to do.
