It would have to be leaking from the master cylinder, which I would replace.

Yup yup... Be ready for a flood of fluid taking the old master off.. I usually have the garden hose out to pre-rinse the fender and firewall before opening any lines or pulling the master. It helps keep the brake fluid from eating your paint.

good idea steve i just repainted the inner fenders and firewall too

or put a plastic bag under the master to catch the fluid

I agree it's the master cylinder.  You should clean out the power brake booster very well or the brake fluid will ruin the vacuum seal inside the booster.  I speak from experience :)
