I dont know if this is possible.I had heard it could be done with applied heat with the channel full of sand to prevent kinks.Using a jig to check your progress

The problem is, you need the kinks. When bending square tubing, the extra metal is forced to the inside of the tubing. As for heat, You don't want to change the structural strength of the steel. I found a shop here that can bend the 1" square tubing and has the correct style die, but his die has a 5.25" radius and I need a 7" radius for the daytona hinges. I have a back-up plan. The header company that builds the nascar headers, Schoenfield is located nearby and is supposed to have the type cnc bending equipment that I need. They are building square tubed components for the nascar trucks. I refuse to give up. I'm tackling these daytona parts one piece at a time.

Lets back up twenty steps , these cant be made on a round tube bender !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a round and a square tube bender ,and on the square bender the dies have a concave ,which pushes in the metal on the inside radius  I made these a while back , using  my dear old friend Dave's hinges . one more thing , these were bent cold !Larry

The square tubing bender that you suggested that I buy does not have the dies with the piece that pushes the metal to the inside. I've seen that type of die and these are not them. I'll post a pic tomorrow of the tubing bender that I bought.
Are you absolutely sure that your hinges are .120 wall like the originals? Your's look more like .60 wall. The thin wall hinges won't hold up in the long run. They won't hold their shape since they're twice as long as the original hinges. That's why the Daytona versions were made of thicker steel than the lightweight originals.

I would love to see a video of you bending the .120 wall stuff on this little bender that I have. I just don't think it's going to happen. If I'm going to sell daytona trunk hinges, they're going to look and work like the real thing or I'm not going to sell them.

Mine are the same thickness of the wing -braces you sold me . There a little thinner than orig , but that doesn't mean that they are not strong . I think they look great , but more importantly they don't flex !

Larry, That explains why I'm having more trouble bending these hinges than you were. I kept thinking all along that you might have been using thinner wall tubing. I'll let you know what I find out from the fab shop regarding whether they can bend them or not. I'm going to try to stick with the correct size since there may be a few guys that need them for their original cars at some point in time.
