Has anyone done a 5 speed conversion using something other than the Kiesler 5 speed?  4,400 it pretty steep and I'm on a more restrictive budjet.  I think dodge is putting a 5 speed in the newer trucks but I'm not positive about that yet.  This will be going in a 73se with the new hemi, sometime in the future, I hope.
Thanks,
Scott

I have less than $4000 into my 5-speed swap...    dont know if that helps at all but...   for what its worth

Gearing on truck transmissions is typically not what you'd want. Spacing is all wrong.

T-5s can be found cheap, but are pretty wimpy. Anything more powerful than a mild small block will chew one up quickly.

Richmonds just don't fit without major tunnel surgury.

they are also almost as expensive as a Tremec transmission....     not to mention they use external rod shifters...     which need to be purchased seperately....

T-5's suck major @$$ as they are weak...     my friend broke on in his...    third gen Camaro...     with a 305....

I run the Doug Nash 5 speed in my B body car.  512 low deck with a Street Twin dual disc clutch and a Dana 3.54 rear end.

Good summary PT.

The only thing that needs to be noted is that the TKO 600 actually has a 2.87 1st gear which is much friendlier than the 3.27 you were stuck with on older versions of the tremec.

Actually, all of the ratios they have listed are incorrect with regards to the TKO 600. TKO 600 ratios are 2.87, 1.89 1.28 1.00 and 0.82 or 0.64. The TKO 600 largely solves the wide ratio spacing issue.

Thanks to all who replied, it has given me alot of good info and much to ponder.  Something else I'm considering is the 833od but I'm not sure what kind of power it can take or the best years to look for it.  Any suggestions?
Thanks
