it was parked in front of my office...
im wonderin if it's real. fresh paint... weird interior redo in green and green. no options.. three on the tree?.  :-\
any chevy guys care to comment?..

Ponch ®

I don't know jack shit about Chevy's, but I would venture out and say it's a clone. Anyone who drives a real Yenko (and knows what he/she has) doesn't just leave it parked on the street like that.

The seats would have the SYC inbossed on them also, the dash would have a plaque too. It would not though have a three on the tree, it would be a 4 speed console set up. I say it's a clone as well.
These are the plates I had on my charger while I lived in Wa. state years ago. Yep, I pissed off a lot of GM runners, hahaha...

Not right if it's real - the hood stripes are too far forward and the tail end of the side stripes should go all the way to the quarter panel edge and the angle is wrong. The tailpanel should be blacked out with a 427 emblem as well. The easiest way is to peek under it for the 427... :P

It's called Google. :D

If I owned anything that said "Yenko" on the side it better also say "Camaro". Those were some of the cars that drew me into this hobby  - the guy across the street from my friends had and orange 69 Yenko Camaro along with a wicked black Monte Carlo. I never cared for Chevelles or Novas but I can picture a Mustang (or three), GTO, Firebird, Camaro, and even a few foreign cars sharing the garage with the Chargers and Barracuda some day. Of course I need to perfect my "win the lottery retirement plan" first...

:iagree: :2thumbs:
I was just checking out the yenko.net site....very cool.  I've heard that there were only about 35 Yenko Novas made, with less than 10 known survivors! I'm with you Troy, a few 69' Camaro's would look good in my garage too! :icon_smile_big:

Strat, you can get anything for a Chevy or Ford. It's much easier to clone in the GM world, than it is in the Mopar world.

Here is a real deal Yenko Nova. This dude was racing all day, and from what I hear, he races it all the time. I have no idea of the worth of these cars.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the 69 Camaro that much? I've always thought that the 67-68's were better looking.

Maybe it is a clone but I bet its darn fast. Looks very nice--I like to have it. :yesnod:

got this also from "Google" and it was from Nova Source

Don Yenko was in the business of selling Chevrolets from his two dealerships in Pennsylvania, but he was a racer and a true performance guru at heart. Subsequently, when certain customers demanded a performance upgrade, Yenko would accommodate them right from his shop. In order to handle this end of the business, Yenko created Yenko Sports cars, which specialized in swapping powerful engines into lightweight performance cars such as the Corvair Stinger, 427-powered Camaro and Chevelle and the Yenko Nova and Deuce.

The Yenko big-block Nova was Produced in 1969 and the small-block-inspired Deuce debuted in 1970. The first-year Yenko's numbered 37, of which 28 had a 427 installed by Yenko's crew and 9 left the lot with the factory-installed 375-horse 396 powerplant. According to Yenko, the L72 427-powered Novas were the wildest cars he ever built. They were 396 cars with no SS emblems - and with the right tires and suspension setup, the finished machine was capable of reaching 60 mph in less than four seconds.

The 1970 Yenko Deuce was built, as Yenko put it, "as an insurance beater." Since legislation and the insurance industry were clamping down hard on overpowered street cars, Yenko decided to install a Camaro Z28 LT1 with 360 houses, solid-lifter cam, 12-bolt rear with 4.10:1 Positraction, F-41 suspension and a choice of manual or automatic transmission. 175 versions of the Deuce were built under COPO 9010 and offered in one of eight unique colors. Each car came stock with standard-grade black interior and a front bench seat.

Soooooo......  I would say that the owned of this "Nova" is doing what most people do when they can't afford one, they make one that is pleasing to "their" eye.  Said owner probably used a picture of the stripes from a Camaro and copied that and hasn't converted the bench seat and steering column to what a Yenko could have for an interior yet.  I would imagine the owner is doing just what some of us mopar people do to our non-R/T Chargers, Satellites and Coronets by making them into a poor mans Charger R/T, GTX and Superbee.  Not to mention the Daytona/Superbird clones.

see,.. i could have googled this info myself and answered my own question but how much fun would that be...
didn't do vettes huh?.. that seems odd,..

Troy

Chris G.: that is a 1970 "Duece" which had the 360 HP LT1 instead of the L72 Corvette 427. I'd imagine that it's slightly slower. :P Yenko himself described the 69 model as "lethal" and at the "limits of product liability" so the 70 model actually ended up less powerful than the standard 396 model. One of the links I listed above showed a time of 10:90 on slicks for the 69 model! :D

Mojo: I also like the 67 and 68 Camaros and Firebirds better than their 69 models.
