Without good pics of the car, its hard to say. I guess it is worth what you are willing to pay. But realistically, I wouldn't pay over $10,000 if it was in mint condition (consitering it was highly optioned with a rare 4spd). But I have seen them go for more.

Its worth what ever you are willing to give and the owner is willing to take, but that don't mean the price will be the same or higher when you sell it.  Many people think there crap is the good stuff and every one elses stuff is crap

If you really are looking for a 3rd gen charger they are still reasonable.  I would suggest you get one as close to finished as you can afford.  many 3rd gen parts are not yet repopped, so many restoration parts for 3rd gens are just as hard if not harder than 2nd gen.  I am still looking for a 73 or 74 with a straight  rust free body for a parts car.  If that is your dream car don't give up on the dream just get one that is not perfect.  You should be able to get into a real nice 73-74 Charger for well under 10k and the 3rd gens are already starting to see some rise in value.  Good luck!

FYI, i turned down 15 grand for mine,non numbers 440,auto and interior isnt finished yet-its all what some one is willing to accept for a car,if i had millions i still wouldnt pay a million for a hemi cuda(or more)but i might spend 100 large on a 71 super bee in  the combo i wanted!


only 99%of a millionare to go before that happens!

Andy, I'm not saying yours is not worth more than 10k, infact many owners of third gens may not sell there car at any price.  All I was trying to say is this guy should not give up on his dream car.  I think you would agree third gens are the best value in the Charger at this time, and he can purchase a very solid example for under 10k.  Infact kingvern has a very nice 3rd gen for sale on this site for under 10k.

how come the 72 se's are quite popular with the 3rd gen crew round here?, personally(no offence 2 any 72 se owners) but i dont like how they changed the roof for the 72 se option-MATT( now the 71 se with the half vinyl top i do not mind at all)

Personally, I don't care for the smaller rear side window either. But for what I got the car for, and the fact that it is the only Charger I have right now. I will do what I can with it and make the best of it.

Doesnt take a genius to figure that out.......The SE cars came with hideaway headlights, which most people do like.

I absolutley hate the quarter windows on the 72 se's, but the car has alot of sentimental value to me so I am going to have to learn to like it.

I turned down $20,000 for my 73 Rallye this summer. I am starting to think I should have taken it. If I had sold it what would I get in it's place? It seems like a lot of money but to find another one this sweet will cost me that or more. So I agree, 3rd gen prices are going up.

It would have probably have taken you a long time to replace your car w/ something as nice. Good choice on keeping it!

I like the 71-74s. I have a 73 S/E and really like the way they changed the quarter glass on the S/Es in 72-3-4. Gives ema  little character and they really look cool when you start giving them muscle car add ons, The bulge hood, spoilers and such.

I don't think people go looking for an SE specifically, I think its just what they happen to find cheap enough to buy. The HI-PO cars are out of most people budget unless they are needing a lot of work. Like the 2 I have, 71 383 super bee and a 74 360 4-speed rallye, need lots of work.They were the right deals at the right time.
